A Fuckin' Graphic Math Problem

Lets take a break, here is a graphic math problem to solve, basically the story is the following.

The guy must go to the house, but first he must take some water from the river, but the lazy ass doesnt want to walk more than needed, so you must find whats the shortest path to accomplish what he wants.

Later or tomorrow, once some of you took the time to resolve it if you want, i will post the solution.

Enjoy :thumbsup

What? We have to do this using maths... Or is it a riddle? I'm confused..

Then why do i see the image in the first post? Works fine here.

cognitos 06-10-2008 02:26 PM

There is not enough information to solve this puzzle.

You have - or what appears to be - a person, some trees, and a house in your image -- but there is no river. Only a blue line with a darker blue line running through it. Also -- is the house in the image the house we must travel to, and is the person in the image the person we are supposed to use in this problem...?

Without more information, this problem is unresolvable.

I also see the image

Dollarmansteve 06-10-2008 02:30 PM

It's a pretty simple geometry problem. You can use both classic geometry (proof using line segments) or trigonomety to do this proof. Gimme one sec and I'll post a diagram that will give everyone enough info to solve the problem.

Youre joking right?

xentech 06-10-2008 02:32 PM

Yeh you can do with trig easily but I thought it might be a riddle instead, confused

aico 06-10-2008 02:36 PM

Fucking simple. Dude doesn't want to walk, so he heads straight down to the river, rides the river towards the house, gets out, walks straight to the house.

As much as you are on this board, you'd think you would have seen the threads about this. It's only been like this for a couple months now.. not sure why it shows for some, but it's not there for most of us.

I believe it works on gfy.com but not gofuckyourself.com

Well, what is supposed to be a person some trees and a house are intended to be a person some trees and a house, the blue line witha darker blue line running through it is intended to be the river i mentioned, the house in the image is the one u must use for the calculations and the person is the guy it alked about.

And the puzzle is resolvable, else i wouldnt post it.

Next time i will try to hire a graphic designer so u dont get confused with my graphics :thumbsup

Your solution seems correct i think, i did the drawing myself, and didnt realize the head of the guy was at the same level than the house floor, it makes it a bit confussing to analize if its right or not at first sight.

My idea was to calculate it from the guy feet till the house door, so, the vertical distance from the guy to the river is different than the distance from the house to the river, that way the answer would be two diagonal lines of different lenght each of them.

:thumbsup

I dont post the solution graphic yet, just in case someone else want to try to solve it as i mentioned over.

Yeah, i should definitely change my bookmarks so I can see gay old men sucking each other off.. that's a great way to measure intelligence.

GrouchyAdmin 06-10-2008 04:59 PM

Walk to the house, throw a bucket out to the stream, pull it back up to the house. Saved half the trip!

just a punk 06-10-2008 05:01 PM

If it's a math task, so it needs a math solution. So here we go:

[the shortest path] = 2 * sqrt([path down the river]^2 + ([path right to the house]/2)^2) :)

Technically they can use gfyboard too however what is the name of this board? Hmm perhaps the smart people would use the actual name of the site when using it and just taunt the morons who have not figured out gofuckyourself was the first name and has already stuck. Hell even posting to the board using image shack just about screams I can not afford hosting.

Oh and to the math problem, whatever the answer the guy needs to fire his contractor cause he cant even fit in his own house.

raven1083 06-11-2008 01:19 AM

great idea! Thanks for sharing

marketsmart 06-11-2008 01:25 AM

fuck that shit.. i get on the cell phone, call a limo, have him drive me down to the river, get the water, then drop me off at home...

i didnt walk one foot... I WIN!

Using online services is sometimes easier and more simple, i use imageshack cuz i dont have any image sharing soft installed in my hostings and i would have to upload it opening a ftp session. Maybe when you get rich enough you can afford a payed email account instead of gmail and pay me a better hosting with an easy to use upload and share software.

and if you get some more extra money hire a graphic designer and an architect to make the drawing in a correct scale :)

but thats just in case you get rich enough, for the moment you could use your current money to take some math classes and next time you can try to give a solution to the problem so you dont look like the guy who is unable to resolve it but wants to participate anyway :D

Why would you need image sharing software on your hosting account? Or do you mean you have not configured your htaccess to allow yourself to share files? Also you created the image, then also uploaded it. True it was through a script but that is in no way more complicated than ftp.

I use gmail for ease of use. Though I have a few paid emails that direct to it. No damn reason at all to use them though when Gmail itself is better. Come to think of it, your comments there are fairly asinine.

As for you getting butt hurt about a wise crack. The correct answer had already been given so what would be the point of just repeating going to the river, blah blah. Perhaps I should of posted about a limo or better yet calling a helicopter. Grow some thicker skin and learn what a wise crack is.

Yeah it confused the fuck out of me too. Is the thing that looks like a house actually supposed to be the person? Is the person even in there at all? Oh, the humanity.

My english is not perfect but seems you are having a problem to understand, i said i use imageshack for the same reason you use gmail for ease of use. To upload a file in my hosting i have to open the ftp software, opening a session, select the place where i want to upload it, drag the file, and then link to is. If i would have an image sharing soft like imageshack i could type in an URL click the search button was in imageshack, select the file click upload and simple press the right button, copy the given url and past it here.

So, if there is a site out there giving that service and its easier why shouldnt i use it?

btw, problems like those have one solution (the point will be always the same) but several ways to find it, thats the interesting thing of them, would be great if u had find one but its ok, each of us has different gifts :winkwink: and i enjoy wise cracks but ur comment about my hosting or if i can or cant afford it doesnt have anything to do with the thread hahaha and thicker skin? dont worry i didnt need to go the shrink cuz ur joke, so dont worry, here there is a large enough back :thumbsup
