This election's gonna be ugly

It's gonna be ugly both for the attacks against each other and the attacks within the parties.

In the news today ...

Jim Johnson resigns from Obama VP selection team

Democrats criticize McCain on Iraq

McCain Reminds Pennsylvanians of Obama's "Bitter" Comments

Obama attacks credit card companies, McCain

Obama Economic Adviser Draws Fire

Hell, like most other elections I suppose.

Was there something in the news today about Gramm?

Seems unlikely we'll ever reach the depths of election mudslinging as occurred in 1800 though (between Adams and Jefferson).

mikeyddddd 06-11-2008 12:44 PM

Just wait until McCain puts into practice what he learned from Dubya. It won't be long before the Republican slime machine starts rumors about Obama having black children.

I keeding. I keeding.

Wonder when the Keating 5 ads will run. I think the Dems would be crazy not to go on the attack there. Not from the official campaign but from one of those groups where at the end of the commercial they say something like .. "This ad brought to you by the committee to elect Barack Obama. The Committee to elect Barack Obama is in no way affiliated with the campaign of Barack Obama".

payd2purv 06-11-2008 12:49 PM

Is it coming soon? cause this shit is getting tired.

Yep. Was wondering when someone would pick up on this. If you read the article the Bush family was chin deep in it too:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savings_and_Loan_crisis
Lincoln Savings and Loan

The Lincoln Savings led to the Keating Five political scandal, in which five U.S. senators were implicated in an influence-peddling scheme. It was named for Charles Keating, who headed Lincoln saving and made $300,000 as political contributions to them in the 1980s. Three of those senators - Alan Cranston, Don Riegle, and Dennis DeConcini - found their political careers cut short as a result. Two others - John Glenn and John McCain - were rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee for exercising "poor judgment" for intervening with the federal regulators on behalf of Keating.[10]John McCain is a Republican candidate in the 2008 U.S. presidential election.

They could run some really nasty ads on this. The timing - given the current banking crisis - could be perfect.

Verbal sparring, OH NO I CAN'T HANDLE IT when politicians call each other names and then retract them 8 hours later.

Fuck USA politics.

Kudles 06-11-2008 10:29 PM
