I got my computer chair back in the early 90's man. Old piece of shit, I retired it a few months ago in favor of one of my kitchen chairs, which is from the early 90's man. lmfao.

my current chair, about 2 years. My old chair which was much more comfortable caught fire.. Fire?? How the fuck did that happen?

Well, back in 2005 the furnace in my house needed to be replaced since it was dead. It was the middle of winter so I was using small heaters to warm things up. One day I left the house to go do some groceries and left the heater on not thinking anything bad would happen.. WRONG! As I stepped out of the grocery store I saw the guy that I was renting a room to walking towards me and he told me "there was a fire in your room. Your leather desk chair caught fire. If I wasn't there in time the house would have burned down"

Well, I didn't believe him since he loved to joke around and make shit up. When I got home I saw my chair out on the grass all melted and burned to shit.. What a mess it made. The reason that happened is due to my cat jumping on the chair making it turn and made the back of the chair face the heater.. Directly on it pretty much. This is when I bought the chair I'm using now. Very disappointing since this chair is uncomfortable. I will be buying another like my old one very soon.

You had a fire? Where was the donations thread ?

Peaches 06-12-2008 11:17 AM

I bought it when I moved here so a little over 7 years. It was only $200. I went around Office Max and sat in every chair until I found one I was comfortable in. This was after trying 2 different expensive chairs and sending them back (that popular one from Herman Miller and one from Relax the Back or whatever that store is called). I love it :)

Wasn't something that was unavoidable. It was my own fault and I'm not about to ask people for $ due to my own stupidities. haha :)

It was about a decade in older chair but I purchased Steelcase Leap http://www.steelcase.com/na/leap_products.aspx?f=11852 for Christmas

CaveCreek_Russell 06-12-2008 11:42 AM

work chair, had the same one for a little more than 2 years I think.

home desk chair about half that. I've been buying cheap <$100 pleather chairs at home that only last about a year, finally got a good one though that I don't think is going to break on me.

JFK 06-12-2008 11:48 AM

I have an old tub kind of office chair from the 70's which I bought for 10 bucks used , comfortable as hell:thumbsup

the leather didn't catch fire.. it melted due to the heat and the padding inside caught fire.

st0ned 06-13-2008 12:45 PM

Probably a year or so, I guess it would be a good time to get a new one.

rowan 06-13-2008 12:57 PM

I've had this "ergo" chair for about 3 years, the armrests are starting to split (some sort of high density foam, obviously not strong enough for an arm resting on it!) but apart from that it's a great chair.

It stank when I first got it though, smelled like a sweaty fat guy had been sitting on it for a few days... naked...

Gary_TLX 06-13-2008 01:11 PM

About 30 minutes....if you mean years, then this one is almost three. I love it, but wouldn't mind trying out a few of those very comfortable ones just to see. :)
