Note to Laker Fans

Think about this, Bynum is your future blossoming star....

Bynum
Gasol
Odom
Gordon (Bulls)
Rose (Memphis PG)

To some of you this may sound absolutely INSANE but with this you'd have a future TOP point guard and one of the best centers for YEARS to come... Gasol and Odom can anchor your team for now.... Get a guy like Gordon, the top pick and some prospects like Noah, maybe kirk Hinrich, I don't know but the bulls would give plenty up for Kobe... They're after a Jordan replacement more than anybody else is...

This Laker team MINUS Kobe is still a playoff team. Send him to Chicago for the first overall pick, take the point guard + hell ANYBODY in the bulls lineup and you have a far more respectable team...

You can't tell me that starting 5 listed above wouldn't be making a run at the title EVERY year for what the next 5+ years? You'd have a Center AND PG worthy of title runs for a decade and just fill in the guys in the middle. Sure Gordon might be best as a 6th man so get another guard somewhere or use one of the bums you have now.

If Lakers management has the BALLS to pull the trigger I'd be a HUGE Laker fan... I love the lineup but I hate Kobe....

V_RocKs 06-13-2008 08:08 AM

I don't think you understand business very well...

And the NBA is a business...

The Lakers want Kobe because he brings in sales... Tickets, jerseys and other merchandise. Without Kobe you don't have all of the money you are "saving" because he isn't there...

That money is also gone because you don't sell out tickets and you don't sell merchandise either.

farkedup 06-13-2008 08:20 AM

The entire point is ALL the scouts have Rose as one of the top 3 PG's in the NBA in 3yrs or less.

Bynum will take an enormous leap next year (Dwight Howard anybody?) Fact is what sells the tickets and merchandise is a WINNING team. Kobe is clearly a choker and will be back to blaming his teamates, the coach and the entire organization come Sunday...

Do you want CANCER on your team or do you want a bunch of no nonsense players that'll give you 100% all the time and be a contender for more than a DECADE!

On the business end WINNING is everything, you can bet your ass laker fans will be going after Rose jerseys... Tickets will be sold out with ANY above 500 lakers team. the team itself doesn't get a big cut in the Kobe merchandise. With all teams if you buy it anywhere but that teams shop they only get a SMALL cut. Like I already said... other Laker merchandise will be moved by WINNING.

Fuck that whiny bitch choker named Kobe...

You seem to be missing the point.... The TEAM is better off without Kobe.

Eric 06-13-2008 08:25 AM

Win or Lose this year... You are on Crack... The Lakers don't need to trade Kobe away to be a dominant team for the next several years.

With Bynum back next year, Gasol moves to Forward. With the rest of the line up coming into their prime. This team does not need to change. They will grow and you will see a 60+ win season next year. Take that to the bank (barring any major injuries)

Biggy 06-13-2008 08:53 AM

You and Isiah Thomas should get together and buy an NBA team, you guys would be great :upsidedow

when you have the sickest player in the league, you don't give him up - especially for a pick, there's always more downside than upside.

farkedup 06-13-2008 08:53 AM

Think of it this way...

What do you do if Kobe starts pointing fingers on Sunday? lets say he points a finger at Phil for something... Do you dump PJ? just rewind your memories to what unfolded after Shaq carried the team to a few titles... He quickly got run out of town.

When you have a rare talent sitting there at PG if Kobe does his typical bonehead shit do you dump other people in the organization to suit him AGAIN or do you say fuck it and bring in more talent/depth?

Do you really think Ben Gordon, Rose and probably a couple extra young players wouldn't create a better TEAM?

Sure Kobe can do some big time things but he can't single handedly will his team to a title (Jordan) and is proving to be a CHOKER in the finals. In a situation like this having a very solid FIVE MAN team + depth will work so much better because EVERYBODY on the lineup would be capable of averaging 20+ PPG if they were "the man" If Gordon ran into any issues with sharing the ball you simply have him come off the bench like CHicago did with him. hell the spurs do it with manu alot.

The problem with the Lakers is Kobe demnds to be the man. The true superstars simple ARE the man... Kevin Garnett, Time Duncan... those are the real champions.

Kobe was just the trailer Diesel was pullin... What can a trailer do without Diesel pullin it? Unless Kobe will be able to take a backseat to Bynum over the next couple years he'll only hurt a blossoming young superstar who is the REAL key to the future Laker titles which will happen with or without Kobe.

He's not a real MVP and he's a choker... He's NOT the best player in the league and never will be.

the guy is a locker room cancer..

trade me DAMMIT!

no I never wanted to be traded...

you laker fans have a short memory.

Moe 06-13-2008 09:02 AM

I will have to disagree with you there - There are no changes that need to be made. If they don't win it this year, it is definite that they will be taking the trophy for years to come.

As soon as Bynum enters the mix, GAME OVER. No team in the league will be able to compete with the Lakers.

farkedup 06-13-2008 09:10 AM

I'm just launching a what if type scenario you guys need to look at...

Kobe WILL be blaming somebody other than himself when they lose on Sunday and officially get blown off the map in the finals.

He's not man enough to say yup I failed (if he is I take it all back)

Not IF but WHEN Kobe implodes after this colossal flop (thought when John stockton retired we wouldn't see flops like this again) Just seriously think about what I said.... You can get a star PG (chris Paul had an immediate impact and was the real MVP this year if Garnett wasn't)

Think about that top 5 I posted to go along with all the current Laker depth and adding MORE depth which the Lakers could easily package some depth for a starter caliber SG to bring Gordon off the bench for a 6th man role. From the bulls they could get an extra big man for the bench in the pot smoking Noah...

Of course they need to trade choke boy. If he stayed on the bench last game lakers might have had a chance to win. When it comes time to shine kobe always always fuckin chokes.

notoldschool 06-13-2008 03:03 PM

Kobe is the Lakers. And as much as he is not a leader, the lakers would be foolish to ever get rid of him. He has got serious skills but not brains or heart. Plus he is dumb as a box of rocks. Did you hear him tell all the little Lakers fans that he was going to get over the game by taking down a bunch of shots of alchohol? Nice role model skills dip shit.

even if Kobe were CUT or broke his kneck the lakers would be a playoff team. If they trade him they'll have an actual shot at winning it all.

Kobe is a choker and refuses to distribute the ball in the second half (trying to be the hero) they'll never get a title that way.

Mr. E 06-14-2008 11:46 AM

Kobe wins 3 championships in 8 years, still manages to get very bad Laker teams into the playoffs almost single handedly after Shaq leaves, does some things no one (not even Jordan) have done before, and now is back in the NBA finals when no one thought they would get out of the first round...and he still gets called out. I would NEVER trade a sure HOF player and one of the 10-15 best in NBA history for some unproven scrubs who may not even pan out. Go get your head examined dude.

Kobe hasn't done ANYTHING jordan didn't do... and Jordan did it with 10x the style and charm.

Kobe's game was MADE by watching Jordan highlights. Kobe has no creativity at all. The only comparisons between the 2 are completely due to Kobe stealing so many of Jordans moves. Kobe is one of the greatest ATHLETES in the history of the NBA but he's still a nutjob.

Kobe certainly has had the ability to be a Jordan clone. Kobe can do a LOT of things that Jordan could. The defining differences are that Kobe doesn't perform the only time of the year it COUNTS, doesn't play well with others and still acts like he's 18(extremely immature)

Anybody remember why Shaq and PJ got run out of town the first time around? KOBE had a problem with them both... don't think for a second that the shit he started with Bynum is gone and don't think for a second PJ even gets along with Kobe.

Here's why the Lakers won the first 3 titles:

Quote:

2000 -- Shaquille O'Neal, L.A. Lakers
Averaged 38.0 points, 16.7 rebounds and 2.67 blocks to lead the Lakers to a 4-2 victory over the Indiana Pacers and the franchise?s first NBA Championship since 1988. O?Neal?s best Finals performances came at the Staples Center with 43 points, 19 rebounds in Game #1, 40 points, 24 rebounds in Game #2 and 41 points, 12 rebounds in Game #6.

2001 -- Shaquille O'Neal, L.A. Lakers
Averaged 33.0 points, 15.6 rebounds and 3.40 blocks to lead the Lakers to a 4-1victory over the Philadelphia 76ers and the franchise?s second consecutive NBA Championship. O?Neal?s best Finals performances came at the Staples Center with 44 points, 20 rebounds and five assists in Game #1, 28 points, 20 rebounds and nine assists in Game #2 and 34 points, 14 rebounds in Game #4.

2002 -- Shaquille O'Neal, L.A. Lakers
Averaged 36.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.75 blocks to lead the Lakers to a sweep of the New Jersey Nets and the franchise?s third consecutive NBA Championship. O?Neal?s best Finals performances came at the Staples Center with 36 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in Game #1, 40 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in Game #2, 35 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in Game #3.
Averaged 38.0 points, 16.7 rebounds and 2.67 blocks WTF seriously?

Kobe is Scottie Pippen, fuck comparing him to Jordan.... put Kobe as a #2 guy and he's GREAT. He'd NEVER be able to play on a team with 3 superstars like the Celtics have. Kobe's Ego can't let anybody that can possibly challenge him ever play on the same team as him.

Penny wasn't a real All-Star and he took them to the Finals... Dennis Scott was a great set shooter only because of shaq tossing the ball out. Was Horace Grant on that team too? I can't remember.

Shaq
Grant
Dennis Scott
Nick Anderson
Penny

seriously any of them a legitimate all-star? There's a LOT more talent sitting next to Kobe right now even with Bynum hurt than shaq had (got swept though)

I'll give you this, Shaq's title with the heat was all D Wade, he put up one of the greatest performances in Finals history.

Shaq CHANGED THE GAME
Kobe merely attempted to mimic Jordan

I am NOT a Lakers hater... I loved them before that BS with running shaq and PJ out of town. I LOVE Gasol and think Bynum is the next great big man that will dominate the league soon. Odom has my respect, he's 6'10 and incredibly athletic. Slightly less than the Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire type player. I believe Odom is an all-star if he's in the east.

The Lakers proved by trading shaq to make room for the "next superstar" they don't mind mortgaging the short term if it means better player development. I see it possible for them to run Kobe out just like they did with Shaq to make room for Bynum. Anybody forget just a year ago some of the comments Kobe was making about his teammates?

farkedup 06-14-2008 02:50 PM

Also if I remember right can't Kobe kill his contract after this NEXT season?

seriously people don't be totally shocked if the Lakers do the smart thing and dump him. Do you see any players coming out of college next year that would likely end up a superstar? I think Rose is as close to a lock in the draft for a star player as you'll find.

I still dont understand the Shaq being run out town. As a business owner would you payout a max contract to a aging big man who refuses to workout during the offseason? A guy who puts off getting surgery and then publicly states he will get the surgery and rehab on company time?

Buss was offering Shaq the highest contract in the NBA (granted not max) Shaq flat out refused, feeling "disrespected".

Love or hate Bryant, there is one thing you can not deny about the guy. His work ethic, something Shaq NEVER had.

So tell me again as a business owner how was Shaq run out of town?

Honestly I'm waiting more for the post-game interviews than the game itself... I think it'll be interesting to see if there's a breakdown that quickly or if we'll be resorting to the "rumor mill"

I had no clue Paul Pierce was so great since I never bothered watching Celtics games since they sucked so bad for so long. I used to watch Bird but there just aren't any players us midwestern white guys can relate to and like in the NBA anymore. So many of these gangster wanna be punks filling the league or Euro Trash... simply aren't any skilled white american players anymore. Even if it was times like the Cavs/Bulls playoff games when Jordan would posterize some of the white guys like Craig Ehlo at least they were there and fundamentally sound.

D-Money 06-14-2008 04:03 PM

Lakers don't really need anyone else if Bynum is healthy.

However, I'd like to see them get a top notch point guard or rebounder that plays with passion. Odom and Gasol are great and all, but they are too mellow and not firey enough. The Lakers need 1 more team leader and they'll be the complete package.

But they still can do it with this team IF healthy.

I'm curious to see how much better Boston will be next year, this was only their 1st year together for those big 3. Pretty scary.

Give the Lakers Tony Parker or Duncun, break up those Spurs already!

Lakers will probably need to get rid of Lamar with the return of Bynum. Unfortunately Lamar will slide to the SF with the return of Bynum. Lamar cant defend SF's nor does he have the outside game of a SF.

Lakers best hope is to trade Odom and land a Artest, Stephen Jackson type player

You must of never heard of a guy named Wilt Chamberlain hahaha He was dominating and changing the game before Shaq was even born :) Hell, the 3 seconds in the paint call was made because of him. If you say Kobe is a mimic of Jordan, I will say Shaq is a mimic of Wilt.

Kobe has done several things Jordan never did, look it up. I will give you two. Jordan never scored 81 pts in 3 quarters and he never had more points than an entire team after three quarters. Try again.

First of all comparing Wilt and Shaq is like comparing oil and water. Two VERY different kinds of players. Kobe does mimic Jordans shooting style but he doesnt have the creativity or consistency in his shot. As for the 81 points, Jordan scoring 69 against a real team (celtics) filled with allstars in the playoffs is WAY more impressive than taking 50 shots in a meaningless game against a bunch of scrubs in a league where the rules are set up for offensive players to flourish.

It was 69 against Cleveland and 63 against Boston but anyways. Jordan took 40 shots a night and hes a great player willing his team to win. Kobe takes 40 shots and hes a selfish ballhog. Laker and Kobe haters are just dumb fucking clueless morons.

TRADE ME
Wed., 12:30 p.m. ET
Kobe tells Stephen A. Smith:
"I would like to be traded. And as tough as it is to say that, as tough as it is to come to that conclusion, there's no other alternative."

DON'T TRADE ME
Wed., 3:20 p.m. ET
Kobe tells Dan Patrick:
"I don't want to go anyplace else. I don't want to. I want to be a Laker. I want to be here for the rest of my career."

TRADE ME
Wed., 8:27 p.m. ET
Kobe tells Los Angeles Times reporter Mike Bresnahan:
"Nothing's changed. It's just a matter of I don't want to go no place else. I don't have much of a choice. When things like this go down, you just sit back. What can I do? It's like a broken record." Bresnahan asked Kobe if he still wanted to be traded and Kobe answered quickly and firmly: "Yes."

And since when did Odom become a good influence?? Was this before or after the league mandated he put down the pipe

kobe is the mvp
he is the best player on the team
sure he goes solo sometimes but it works for the most part
today it was great to see he was doing more assisting and playing his team
i say keep him and lakers will have a couple more really good years to come

He's an incredible ball player that on some teams could be the man and yet on the Lakers here's perfectly happy being #3 or 4 and simply playing harder than anybody on the team.

As far as drugs at least half the black NBA players are on drugs at least during the off-season, that aspect can't really be taken into the equation until it becomes out of hand and suspensions are coming down. Speaking of suspensions both the guys you listed have had some pretty big ON THE FRIGGIN COURT problems. i can tell by all your Kobe love that you're perfectly fine with low standards for your ball players. You probably like the cowboys and are OK with having a team like the Cincinatti Bengals as long as you get some W's. I only like star players that hold themselves to a higher moral standard.

Kobe is a horrible role model and a lousy HUMAN BEING I sure as hell wouldn't want that to be the leader of my team.

Did you forget Odom WAS suspended for drug use?

And once again. I didnt say the Lakers should get artest or Jackson. I said they should get that TYPE of player. Shawn Marion type if that makes you feel better.

P.S. I am a Rams fan

Shawn Marion type would be great except he's looking for a larger contract than he's worth. I don't think they'll be able to find a player to improve the team in trade for Odom. I think they'd do better with a Peja type big time shooter but Peja has horrible D and a history of choking in the playoffs.

Kirelenko seems to be available still. He rebounded this year but AK wants out of the Jazz so I think if you dangle Odom the Jazz jump on it.

Here's the top fantasy SF's and Odom is 8 http://www.nba.com/fantasy/draft_kit...wards1_15.html

forget 'melo, Josh Smith looks REALLY good and is only 20. He's one of the best dunkers in the game and is just exciting to watch. At 6'9 he could be pressed into PF if there's injury problems. I do agree that Odom is just too slow to play SF all year next year but unless they can bring in Smith or AK I'm not sure a trade would make sense. 'melo's talent is incredible but I don't see him ever taking advantage of all that talent. Most of what I hate about Kobe is also true about 'melo (rumored to be heading to Detroit)

I certainly see the Lakers making some moves this off-season. They either have to trade Kobe and go with young players with more heart and desire to win or they need to trade for players with more defensive abilities. Possibly bring in a better leader for the team but that can't happen unless they trade Kobe.

I do know that it is incredibly unlikely the Lakers would trade Kobe... I just REALLY like the entire team EXCEPT kobe. I loved the shaq lakers, PJ is a great coach too. Gasol was stuck on some HORRIBLE teams for so long so he never got the All-star votes he deserved. We're all really seeing how great he is now that he's on a team that gets national coverage. I see Gasol as FAR more valuable to the Lakers in these finals games than Kobe. If the Lakers somehow recover I would be absolutely thrilled if Gasol got the MVP and people started talking about HIM and STFU about Kobe already. Even the most hardcore Kobe fanboy has to see that so far Gasol is carrying a LOT more of this team than Kobe is.

BTW I'm a Packers fan, I'm 25 and other than Barry Sanders Brett Favre was the player that I absolutely loved to watch. I hated Scott Mitchell so even when the Lions were respectable I liked the Packers WAY more. I watched Brett's first completion and made the long road trip to the frozen tundra 3 times and watched them in Detroit 3 times. This past year I ALMOST made the road trip to St Louis to see them but had schedule problems. I'm still rooting for the Pack without Favre but who knows how they'll do now, they have incredible talent levels but without a QB they could be pretty bad.

When a player has incredible talent levels and is a great sportsman that stands out to me. When i guy has incredible talent but is selfish, loudmouth and generally wasting his talent I get a bit pissed. Randy Moss, TO, Kobe, Shaq's FT%, Garnett not putting on weight shit the list is endless LOL
