i have spent about 10 minutes of getting rid off that shit in the opera settings -
i am a webmaster - do you think a surfer will take that time to get to a site ?
or will visit http://www.netcraft.com/ for further infos ?

Please post this warning on the red lines and ensure that ever person who installs it does the same thing as I doubt the poster is going to join my site but I am pretty certain some potential customers may now not because of that damn message.

bobby666 06-13-2008 01:40 PM

now ia have downloaded and installed the english 9.5 version in an empty folder and changed no settings during install
the result was :

Smart, now just figure out how to hack the computer of every single person on the planet who has, does or will install Opera to change their preferences for them and you'll sound like you almost understand the problem with this :winkwink:

do you get this from going through a ccbill link? If so, what happens if you type in the domain directly?

Netcraft is the company providing the block list. It's most likely based on reports from surfers using the Phishing Toolbar (or something similar)

bobby666, what happens when you try to load AFF? (Seriously)

bobby666 06-13-2008 02:10 PM

as i don't promote aff i took an alt.com link from a rapidshare surfer blog:
http://alt.com/go/g791725-pct
no problems with site access

psbfo 06-13-2008 08:59 PM

Opera 8.x would give the same results on all ccbill referral links when automatic fraud protection was turned on. I personally submitted a bug report months ago, but apparently they either didn't get it or ignored it.

I'm now taking bets on how many hours before version 9.51 is released. :1orglaugh

Shaze 06-13-2008 11:27 PM

serious issues!

This isn't a opera bug at all as the filter is provided by netcraft. I'm seeing 3-4% on my sites but as many have writter, older versions identified itself by FF or IE so the number is higher.

Ace of Babes 06-14-2008 04:22 AM

Microsoft has adviced recently to not use Opera because of security related issues and strongly encourages to uninstall Opera from your Windows machine.

Jens Van Assterdam 06-14-2008 04:25 AM

now that sucks big time!

perfectodollars-gabrio 06-14-2008 04:30 AM

Jenny S. 06-14-2008 04:36 AM

Its sickening to see how more and more companies tell you what you can browse and what not.

It's our own fault.

We are totally unable to police our own industry so the powers that be, whatever powers those are, will police it for us, one way or another.

This industry is full of fucking idiots and scammers. We deserve exactly what we get. :2 cents:

You too?

You know, you're starting to sound just like Pleasurepays and that other old lady Paul Markham :(

GrouchyAdmin 06-14-2008 01:15 PM

Confirmed in Opera 9.50/Linux.. not that there are many Opera users.. even fewer Linux ones.

basschick 06-14-2008 03:23 PM

i work with industries in addition to this one, and no industry successfully polices itself. try reading the news sometime.

btw, i haven't found any more people in this industry to be scumbag than any other. welcome to the human race - there are idiots and scumbags everywhere.
