What The Fuck Obama!!!

Obama tells black fathers to engage their children

Can you imagine if George W said, White fathers you need engage your children.

This is another reason not to vote for him.

Oh cause it's ok for him to single out one race, while if someone else did it Jessie Jackson would be all over them.

IllTestYourGirls 06-15-2008 05:49 PM

the problem is too many listen to al sharpton and not enough to bill cosby. :2 cents:

Pornwolf 06-15-2008 05:56 PM

This is the stupidest thread ever.

Obama told the black people something that may be hard for some to hear, but very necessary.

Finally you have a presidential candidate that can skip over the live wire of political correctness and actually speak his mind and you consider that a bad thing?

Idiot.

What Obama said is definitely a Bill Cosby sounding line.

I have to admit, this very nearly makes even me an Obama fanboy, rather than just a supporter.

A big problem in the US is the number of black men who don't support their own children enough. Yes, there are plenty of white, latino and asian men who do exactly the same, but among black men, the percentage is a lot higher than among any other group of the population.

With the election just a few months away, it takes balls to voice an unpopular truth. By saying this, Obama shows that he has those balls. Liberalism is great, but only when coupled with honesty - sometimes blunt honesty, at that.

Obama's experience is still a problem, of course, but looking at his platform, his ability to inspire people and his apparent willingness to address real but painful truths, he seems to be a pretty damn good candidate.

(as an unrelated aside, I think McCain would come close to being an equally good candidate, if only he wasn't forced to pander to conservative dogma - as it is, though, a vote for McCain would be as bad as a vote for Bush was a few years ago)

Well, I wouldn't call a man with a valid point an idiot. There's numerous white fathers that sign off on their children just as there are other races. He's right in stating that if GWB had said it and singled out caucasian fathers, there'd be negative press coverage all over and people screaming racism. If this election is supposed to show so much equality amongst humans, not just a certain race, color or sex - why isn't he just referring to fathers in general?

:2 cents:

If Obama wins he needs to come out and say that Black people who DONT SPEAK EBONICS OR ACT LIKE FUCKING RAPPERS dont get held back by their race.

We've black mayors, governers, sec of state, and then a President.

Black people need to wake up and face the fact people avoid them because of how they act, not the color of their skin.

I'm not a fan of Obama's but I will say that I do understand where he's coming from with his message-- Over half of black families are devoid of a father figure. You can try laying blame on whoever as to why that is, but ultimately, much has to do with the upbringing of kids, be it in the ghetto or in the suburbs. Much has been written in regard to this and much of the blame has been placed on the government. Many conspirary theorists believe that the simple fact that over 60% of Black Men between 18-34 are currently behind bars is a government conspiracy. I'm not here to argue nor belabor that point. I'm just saying that I don't see this as a negative thing on Obama's behalf, asking black men to engage their kids, because chances are if these kids are brought up in an even half decent home, they wont be out there running the streets and getting in trouble. By the same token, I'm not saying that by doing those two things you'll raise a 'model' citizen, but certainly, it certainly can help in the upbringing of a child, so that said pattern repeats itself when that young child grows up and becomes a man.

So I don't think it's a bad thing that he challenged Black Men to engage their kids.

Bdiddy 06-15-2008 10:40 PM

are you a black father?

aico 06-15-2008 10:50 PM

I believe it's called dealing with reality and facts, sugar coating is for cereal.

Young 06-16-2008 12:03 AM

theres a huge fucking problem in the black community with black men taking responsibility for the kids they create....the problem is they don't want to.

kids grow up fatherless. a percentage of those kids (not all) end up doing fucked up things. rinse and repeat. now you know why 50% of the U.S. prison population is filled with black males.

Obama is right. Period.

I am not saying he is wrong. I just don't like it that Bush couldn't have said it about white people without their being problems.

jawanda 06-16-2008 12:45 AM

On a side note ... have you guys ever seen the "Read a book" video from BET? I'm sure it has been posted here ...
