Yahoo Domains now $34.95 per year???

Just got an email from Yahoo saying their annual domain renewal price is increasing to $34.95 per year starting on June 1st.

Let me be the first to say "What the hell?".

I have dozens of domains with them, and I bought them years ago at $9.95 per year!

ProducerCashDave 06-19-2008 11:15 AM

Wow that sucks

xxxRumor 06-19-2008 11:17 AM

exactly, they need to get out of their debt, so why not charge more for their services.

jscott 06-19-2008 12:00 PM

woj 06-19-2008 12:23 PM

payd2purv 06-19-2008 12:24 PM

tranza 06-19-2008 12:45 PM

Marky333 06-19-2008 12:47 PM

Nookster 06-19-2008 01:52 PM

Your first mistake was using a mediocre internet service company to conduct business with.

mikesinner 06-19-2008 02:00 PM

It's the economy. Everyone is hurting, even the millionaire's.

There's a difference between desperation and greed.

They probably figure most of the people can't figure out how to transfer their domains out anyway.

or they charge 35 dollars to do it :)

Sosa 06-19-2008 02:45 PM

better transfer em!

WiredGuy 06-19-2008 02:49 PM

Does that include a hosting package or is that just for the domain?

Steve Awesome 06-19-2008 02:52 PM

They're just following the Network Solutions pricing model again. Chances are people will stick with them rather than go through the relatively simply process of domain transfer.

CyberHustler 06-19-2008 02:54 PM

Get away from yahoo....

u-Bob 06-19-2008 02:58 PM

it's 1998 again?

Barefootsies 06-19-2008 06:38 PM

HOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWLING LAUGHTA!!!

That is almost as ridiculous as those Liberty domains or whomever mail me all the time. I have my own registrar, and I can tell you the 'cost' is nothing in the double digits.

:2 cents:

No, I don't have them handle my hosting. That would be lame.

Dailydiapers 06-19-2008 06:49 PM

Transfer

Iron Fist 06-19-2008 07:19 PM

Was that $9.95 price lifetime?

CaptainHowdy 06-19-2008 07:21 PM

They got you good, man...

Get ready for another year of Yahoo! Domains

Dear Noah,

Thanks for using Yahoo! Domains. We're writing to remind you that it's time for the annual autorenewal of your service.

Your Domains plan, associated with the domain (censored).com, will renew on 07/13/2008. If your billing information is up-to-date, there's no need to do a thing (except keep enjoying your service).

Important note: Beginning on July 1, 2008, Yahoo!'s annual domain renewal price increases to $34.95 per year.

You can verify your billing information by visiting https://billing.yahoo.com/ and clicking the Update link next to your plan. Click the gray Edit button to the right of your payment method to review your payment details.

(Please note that the billing center will not reflect the new $34.95 domain-renewal price until July 1. Until that time, you will continue to see the old renewal price next to your plan.)

Have questions? Please visit our help center or contact us anytime.

Best regards,

The Yahoo! Small Business team

Are you sure it's not a phishing mail?

Klen 06-19-2008 11:53 PM

I think this not coming directly from yahoo,it comes from some yahoo sub company or whatever it is.I remember i got similar mail long time ago when i bought domain there for 5$.Fortunatly my credit card was expired so they were unable to charge me for renew.
