Video Secrets / Policy Change & Lifetime Payouts

Over the past 8 days many of you were witness to a long and sometimes heated thread regarding our decision to suspend an affiliate account for lack of activity. Many of you disagreed with our policy and made your opinions quite clear. While we will continue to hope that sending an affiliate thousands of dollars a month warrants continued promotion we have decided to amend our Terms & Conditions in favor of a LIFETIME PAYOUT.

The affiliate in question will receive any and all monies that were withheld for the 7 months his account was in suspension. In addition, he will continue to receive his commissions on a monthly basis as long as the customer he referred continues to make purchases; regardless of whether he sends another click.

We have posted an amendment to our Terms & Conditions clearly stating that we will not suspend an account for lack of promotional activity.

(Section 6.4)

It has been said that decisions are always correct when you make them, but they can stop being correct soon thereafter. In this case it?s clear that what is in the best interest of Video Secrets, our thousands of performers and our affiliates is a policy which goes out of its way to pay affiliates for life.

We hope that those of you who made some very out of line personal attacks in the other threads will think twice before doing that again. There are always two sides to every controversy and while the wheels of progress sometimes move slowly we feel they have stopped on a positive outcome for all.

Back to Business. :thumbsup

It's very good of you to continue paying Chrome, and to amend your TOS, but I'm still wary of your company since this "positive outcome" took you so long to produce.

st0ned 06-19-2008 03:30 PM

Wow, sig spot! That is awesome news for the affiliate that they had canceled.

Furious_Male 06-19-2008 03:30 PM

When an organization is as large as VideoSecrets with as many people in management as well as having vested interest, it will definitely make it move slower then a mom and pop organization. There are a lot more opinions to hear, a lot more discussion to have. I am not defending the time it took them to come to the conclusion, simply explaining it. I know Homegrown has taken much longer to move on some issues due to the same type of structure, so I can relate to their pain there. The important thing at the end of the day is that they did do the right thing, and it wasn't years later.

kenny 06-19-2008 03:34 PM

Good job.

Revshare for life should be for life.

BVF 06-19-2008 03:35 PM

Thank Goodness the little man prevailed for once.....

Now it's time to unban Chrome....

RayBonga 06-19-2008 03:35 PM

macromind 06-19-2008 03:36 PM

sig spot! cheers for that decision but I certainly hope the asshole got fired over that... VS must have lost lots of $ based on the Alexa drop!

Bugbee 06-19-2008 03:36 PM

As long as the end result is satisfactory.

They would of saved face with a quicker decison though.

I understand your point, but I'm skeptical. I'm very, very skeptical. I really don't want to continue jabbing VS since they did the right thing, but I'm curious about how long it took them to create that official response to this thread where they tried to justify their tactics by placing the blame on the affiliate in question, by characterizing him as a freeloader who's undeserving of continued revshare from a "single click", as a belligerent man who berated VS employees after he was told he wouldn't receive the money he's owed.

Yes, what a positive outcome indeed for VS... being patted on the back for doing what they should have done in the first place. Excuse me while I break out the champagne and hookers.

Quite frankly, the real positive outcome from this was a group of united affiliates pushing for a compatriot. Everyone talks about how organizing individuals in this industry is like herding cats. Looks like a few cats were herded.

Good move on VS's part, better late than never, rah rah rah, enjoy the kudos fellas.

DigitalPimp 06-19-2008 03:48 PM

it is unfortunate an affiliate had to make a post on here in order to get it resolved but all's well that ends well I guess. :thumbsup

payd2purv 06-19-2008 03:48 PM

That's awesome! :thumbsup

:1orglaugh at that traffic chart.

ladida 06-19-2008 03:50 PM

Finally. I guess some pretty big players did indeed pull their links.

Now just for chrome to be unbanned and witness that he indeed did get the last x months check, since checks tend to be lost in mail.

macromind 06-19-2008 03:50 PM

We should start the Webmaster Syndicate and get all the scammers, shavers and the likes out there!

Zuzana Designs 06-19-2008 03:53 PM

I'm very glad you guys did the right thing in the end .. I had a feeling you would .. Just wish it didn't have to go so far .. Good Job VS

_Richard_ 06-19-2008 03:53 PM

Ha, not only get them out there but make them feel the consequences of their actions. I can see a lot of interest amoung affiliates for a group where all members agree to pull links when any one of the other members is able to prove to the group that they were wronged in some way. If anyone knows of such a group or wants to start one, show me where to signup!

uno 06-19-2008 03:59 PM

This was a no brainer from the beginning. Its almost more unbelievable how long it took them to come to this resolution and considering Brad's earlier responses.

I'm glad they did the right thing, but man...

This much is definitely true, but I'm sorry, after the initial responses in the first thread this comes off as nothing more than self preservation.
