Coffee drinkers inside!
For those of you that brew your own... do you just buy the stuff in stores / starbucks / etc or do you buy specialty blends from the net?
I'm trying to find something new to sip on, I never used to drink coffee but its growing on me. Whats good & where can I get it? |
|
They have "gourmet" beans where I shop. I just make my own blend using what they put out there.
|
nothing gourmet here, so its down to starbucks special imports, not bad.
i might buy a roaster and get some raw beans from kenya plus flavoring syrup and make it myself soon, long time since i worked a roaster :) |
Get yourself a coffee grinder (do not use for spices etc. or get a separate one if you do).
Buy some assorted whole beans, keep them labeled and separate. (as little air and dry too). Try each type of bean as a straight brew. (personally find french press best for this). Keep notes. After you get a good taste for assorted beans then feel free to blend some to match any flavor profile you are after. Having to shop online for beans really should only be required if your after some super exotic beans or your area just has really really bad stores. |
Lately I've been drinking the stuff they have at trader joe's...you always gotta grind your own beans for each pot too....WAY better that way. Took me 15 years of drinking coffee to figure that out lol

I drink ILLY coffee , Italian espresso , give it a try , you might like it .

illy is the best IMO too (if you are esspresso drinker of course), lavazza's probably the second best one the best things in the World is to open a new can of illy beans and smell them - it's simply orgasmic |
I grow coffee in Panama and should have decent harvest next season so if oyu come to visit you can take home some of the worlds best.
|

ive got a machine that grinds, had many already
like said get some beans try them and make your choice, I prefer south american since theyre smoother then the asian ones if you wanna go all the way get green beans and burn the beans yself, smells amazing and the burners arent that expensive |
nothing beats the METH http://www.methcoffee.com
|
Believe it or not try the Dunkin Donuts beans.
Go to a natural food store and see what they have, and store the beans on the freezer. |

love trying different beans
for some variety, drink some good teas as well |
I think it's a pretty safe bet to say I've consumed more coffee over the years than anyone here and over those years I've tried a lot of different coffee beans/roasts - and I like Foldgers Classic Roast the best.
At around the age of 19 I worked at 7-11 on the graveyard shift and the only beverage the employee's could have was coffee - spent 4 years there drinking on average 4 pots/day. At 23, I was a bread man and my day started at 3:00 a.m and I usually got off around 4 p.m - spent 9 years drinking on average 10-12 pots/day. At 32, I worked for Pepsi - started working on the night shift but went to days after a few years - slowly worked my way down to 4 pots/day and have been drinking 4 pots/day ever since - and I'm 44 now. |

Peets or Coffeebean!
French Roast :) |
Man, Peet's fucking wrecked me when I was in Oakland last year, that shit is like crack
|
peets is the best coffee roast you are going to find in a day-to-day coffee. there is higher end coffee, and they have higher end themselves.... but for the most, its all i drink. http://www.capresso.com/coffee-makers.shtml is the best coffee maker i have used. make sure to use good water above everything else. when i really want to sit down and just drink a cup, a french press or drip is nice
|
http://www.peets.com/ i go between the Major Dickerson's Blend and the Sumatra. i always have a half pound of the JR Reserve Blend in the house. it kicks the shit out of even their Kona that is not a blend. never put your coffee in a freezer. keep it in an air tight box out of the light.
