Which Open Source Forum Script Is THE Best?

Which open source forum script do you think is THE best of them all? Being search engine friendly (tableless css design, search engine friendly URLs, etc) and easy to set up, including easy installation of plug ins are the most important aspects. Can you recommend anything?

PS - I'm aware of VBulletin and Invision being some o the most stable and what not scripts. The question is about fully open source aka free forum board scripts. See if you can stick with it :thumbsup

fucking BUMP!

"fully open source" and "free" are not synonymous

the features you are asking for in your post are not necessarily very well implemented as of yet afaik, phpbb has a plugin that is a start and a work in progress, but you still need to do some work in getting things set up....

vbulletin is worth the money

Simple Machines is the best open source forum software IMHO. On the user end, it's the only one that comes close to VB.. Dunno about the back end though, but I know of one forum that got rid of VB for SM.

Free - I run http://www.yetanotherforum.net/ but it's .net which is not to everyone's tastes.

I have vbulletin on another site, and it really is the business. So many addons, support etc, and for less than a few hundred bucks for a licence it's a no brainer.

vbulleting and ipb are the best paid version.

As for free forums, xmb, vanila and smf are the best

Don't rule out www.bbpress.org

I'd say none. As any opensource your running means you will be spammed and eventually have your front page changed :( Unless you want to update your script every 3 days ..

Wordpress, I'd say.

Simple Machines, its been around a long time even though it went through a name change a number of years ago. Before it was Simple Machines it was YaBB PHP, a PHP version of YaBB which was around for years and years.
