when i was single it was because i wanted to be "free." free as in not having to return phone calls to stress over why she is mad at what and why and how many flowers do i have to buy. after dating my ex, i would NEVER go back to someone like that.

i dated a few people short term most sucked and got on my nerves quickly, but my gf now is great and she doesnt care about all that shit and isnt a pain in the ass... although we've only been together for 2 months, we shall see

It's kind of nice to be single. Though I'm the kind of person that really likes to be in relationships because I like the closeness felt with the other person.

But being single definitely has its perks at times.

I'm single by choice. Women have been an endless source of stress and unhappiness for about the last 20 years (I am 33 now). I learn from my mistakes. No more for me. I'll do the whole relationship thing but it has to stay pretty relaxed. If I even get a whiff of seriousness I am gone. If I hear the "L word" I will disappear like a fart in a hurricane.

Not to mention that out of all of my friends that are married, I can only think of one really happy couple. Everyone else regrets their decision to get married.

If only that were true. I've had girlfriends that I was faithful to, treated like a queen and bent over backwards for. Those were some of the worst relationships in history. The ones I shit on until they get fed up and leave on their own are the ones I always seem to enjoy. I've found it's better to treat them all like shit and save face when the inevitable happens.

Being single was exhausting. Always on the hunt to get laid, going out all the time. I guess being single and not going out would be easy, but that's lame.

My gf is pretty low maintenance, so it's really not that difficult. And I still fart whenever I want, so I got that going for me.

i don't think its about lowering your standards as it is more of a compromise. all relationships need some sort of give/take. there is no perfect mate. no perfect situation. but the hope is to find someone who you can live with and someone you wouldn't want to live without.
