Never understood it myself. Scrapped the nick with quite a few K of posts a couple of years back when I moved most of my stuff out of porn. TBH I prefer a smaller post count and being a 'nobody' on GFY. Saves having to argue with so many idiots :)

In real life you judge people with their achievements in life, education, dressing, car, home etc. .. on boards you don't have much to judge how elite someone is, hence rely on post count and join dates.
