Mats has stated he'd prefer to stay in the East (though for that money I'd assume his mind might be able to be changed heh) and also wants a one-year deal like his last contract you'd think.

You'd also think he wants a legit shot at a Cup and even with him, the 'Nucks offense is seriously lacking unless they make other moves, so I don't see him signing there.

he should go to Montreal - he would have a blast playing with their players and they would at least be contenders for a Stanley Cup.

10 mil is way too much for montreal. They can pay him maybe 5, 6 max.

Toronto worked out a deal for Montreal to negotiate with Mats before he became a free agent, but Mats today was quoted as saying 'Montreal have now decided to go in a different direction' - so I guess no deal there.

salary cap went up quite a bit - dunno how much room the Rangers had to play with before signing Redden.

maybe he comes back to Toronto but would be a strange decision by him considering the team is going nowhere and they put him a very shitty position by begging him to accept a trade at the deadline.

I thought Mats said quite a few times that he wouldn't go to a US team. Pretty much Toronto, Montreal or nothing.

Yeah, I think he understands though that they were both in a shitty situation (him and the team).. I'm guessing he goes to Vancouver for the cash, or retires. Long third option is he stays here..
