Thanks, although I wont get it for a bit, as they are not available at this moment and Nikon Canada is playing coy with the exact release date, but sometime this month:winkwink:

What does the 700 retail for?

I have a pretty nice Toshiba but it's getting old now. I need to upgrade.

tranza 07-04-2008 02:11 PM

Looks pretty nice....

tony286 07-04-2008 02:12 PM

very nice camera and congrats. Which nikon are you using currently?

CDSmith 07-04-2008 02:37 PM

Ah, nevermind, this page is reporting that it will be priced at around $3k

Nikon and Canon sucks... if you really want quality stuff and not the consumer crap these big companies serve... You should look no further than Samsung gx-20. It is no secret that most sports and fashion professionals use this camera.. infact most guys are chucking away their medium format kit for this cheaper and better option. And samsung is even going to introduce much better camera in this September. Samsung is the future of digital photography. Nikon and Canon will be left biting the dust.
Interesting.

tony286 07-04-2008 02:42 PM

The samsung is the twin to the Pentax K10D. I think a samsung employee wrote that. lol

well it IS................ but I like to keep up with progress for 1 thing and I abuse the shit out of them in the second:winkwink: NOT physically but a lot of shots:thumbsup
I have been eyeing the D3 for a bit since I saw it in Phoenix. It has excellent low light qualities. However I didnt want to spend 5k on it. This is a great alternative:winkwink:

Sounds pretty good - but in retrospect Canon is better on most fronts. If you look at a comparable canon and nikon, the canon pics just look better.

Plus, ever have to send in a nikon to get repaired? THE WORST.

I live near Nikon's office in Richmond, and they are always very good there. I have heard horror stories floating around, but haven't experienced any myself (yet.)

JFK, that camera's review on dpreviews.com had me drooling! I'd love to see some photos once you get it! I didn't know there was a new speedlight as well!

I ran accross the speedlight , by accident as I was looking for the specs on the 700. I have both my flashes not working currently, so I called my dealer and he says , dont have any. I got to thinking hmmmm maybe there is a new product coming out, seeing as most dealers were sold out of the SB800 and Nikon canada didnt have any eighter. So sure enough the SB 900 is coming out.:thumbsup

once you start using FX again you'll be ready to never shoot DX again.

12 megapixels and Nikon glass? No. The new version of the 5D is going to have 16 megapixels and be the superior camera. I'll wait for that :)
