Employee monitoring software?

Do you use software to monitor the desktops of your employees and what is it?
What would you recommend?

tony286 07-09-2008 04:31 PM

Since I have my employees work remotely I setup a PC for each of them in my home office which the connect to remotely, which enables me to make sure that all of the information is secure, and also I can glance over at the monitor at any time to see what they are doing. www.logmein.com

I have never understood this concept ... if you don't trust the people you employ .. fire them. Or if they are getting everything done but manage to dick around on you tube for 10 minuets .. who cares??

I think trust is a huge part of a happy company ... the trust facotr is part of what creates the bond and loyalty.

Everyone here has been her for at least 2 years .. we weed out those who don't "gel" ... not monitor them.

But every company is different .. just my 2 cents ...

What you're looking for is software that enables you to - not do your job. :)

Plan ahead, set deadlines, move your targets as they become unachievable.

If they're not meeting your deadlines, it's right there on the chart.

But don't they have a sluggish work environment then?

Trust needs to be earned, not granted. How i can trust just hired person, who i've known for 2 days? :)
Also since I'm setting up virtual office, that's the only way to effectively control and manage. Also i can watch what they do and give advices how to do it better (till they learn)

Also for some types of work, it never ends, or is hard to track results immediately, so if they are spending 10 mins on tube sites that's a loss

Well i think it will actually allow me to do it better for less time, and allow to focus on more important stuff
Also for some of the things its hard to estimate how long would they take

haha sounds like you are hiring slaves not workers.. I can see a worker getting up for a drink of water or a bathroom break and you calling him up "Why aren't you working?!?" "I'm sorry master it was just 2 min for a glass of water, it won't happen again, I promise"

I use apple remote desktop on all my staff machines. I can watch their screens at my desk whenever I choose.
