First Class or Economy???

We're going on a trip in 2 weeks and my dad still hasn't booked the tickets.

He plans on booking them tommorrow...

First class is $8300 and economy is $2600

Is First Class worth it??????????

-Maple Leaf Lounge with snacks/computers
-Priority Check In

-180 Degree Reclining Seat
-Good Food
-Self Serve Bar on Board

very nice but pricey.

Rique 07-09-2008 11:49 PM

First Class or Low Class... hmmm

BusterBunny 07-09-2008 11:58 PM

buy one in each section and switch off every 30 minutes:2 cents:

Violetta 07-10-2008 12:00 AM

how long is the flight? You can get lots of good stuff for almost 6k when you get off the plane. I'd fly economy

wootpr0n 07-10-2008 12:19 AM

We need 4 tickets.

It is 4 hours, then 8 hours, then another 4 hours.

bloggingseo 07-10-2008 12:23 AM

Wow man, if you have the cash to do it, I would say yes! But if you are on a little bit of a budget then save that 6 grand and spend it on something awesome when you are on your trip. Good luck

if you can afford it, go first class. there's a big difference.

mozadek 07-10-2008 01:44 AM

If your Dad has an American Express Platinum card use that, my brother used his to buy a business class seat and got one free. If I couldn't get some kind of deal I would say fuck first class, you will get there at the same time flying economy and on top of that the difference in the cost of the tickets could be used for extra play money or a nicer hotel.

Socks 07-10-2008 01:50 AM

Depends on what your dad does.. If he's a stock broker or an NBA basketball player, I'd recommend first class. If he pulls tricks for truck drivers behind a greasy spoon for example, I wouldn't put him through the trouble.

JimmiDean 07-10-2008 03:42 AM

Sorry I have flown both many times.
Over 6 k suck it up and fly reg class.
Its really a no brainer, look at what else you can do on vacation with tta cash instead of handing to the airlines.

nAtuRaLbEautY 07-10-2008 09:23 AM

first class is always worthy.:)

Blazed 07-10-2008 09:31 AM

If you need to ask chances are you are cant afford to fly first class.

that's pretty fuckin funny :winkwink:

tranza 07-10-2008 01:28 PM

That's strange. First class prices down here in Brazil are WAY more expensive than that.

For the same flight where economic is $2,600, like you said. Business class would be $15k and first class would be $30k+ down here in Brazil.

VeriSexy 07-10-2008 01:45 PM

First class = long trips
Economy = short trips

wootpr0n 07-10-2008 06:33 PM

Normally we travel first class.

But it is around $5000 for the same trip vs $2200 economy.

We can afford it but my dad doesn't like spending too much money.

Thurbs 07-10-2008 07:57 PM

if ur flying international, business / first is a must.

manila to anywhere is a hard trip in a small little econ :)

Domain Diva 07-10-2008 08:07 PM

Depends what location is he flying from and his destination ? that plays a big part :thumbsup

Thats my motto.
Then again..for a 6k difference I would probably suck it up.

Spunky 07-10-2008 10:09 PM

It's a flight,it's all good until your buddies find out

miss_bellabellini 07-10-2008 11:01 PM

I would totally fly first class if I could afford, unfortunately I can't:( Also if you use up most of your travel money on the ticket then I don't think it is worth it.

Pics Traffic 07-10-2008 11:42 PM

only idiot would ask that kind of question.

DWB 07-11-2008 05:35 AM

Sounds like an easy flight with the breaks. HOWEVER.... it also depends on the airline you are going to fly with.

Some airlines, like United, offer economy plus seating that gives you 5 or 6 extra inches of legroom. It makes all the difference.

I'd check for those tickets first.

If you can't get those, only the 8 hour part will suck. Ride economy.

k0nr4d 07-11-2008 05:40 AM

I would think twice about investing $6k into being slightly more comfortable for a few hours. For that kind of money I should be getting my dick sucked through the entire flight.

I 2nd that :thumbsup

pornguy 07-11-2008 07:08 AM

How many hours in the seat. Anything over 10 and its worth the money.

Boss Traffic Jim 07-11-2008 07:22 AM

Well since you had to ask/think about it, you really can't afford it, so fly economy and you will be happier in the long run.:2 cents:

nnweb 07-11-2008 07:34 AM

for 12 hours flying first class is worth it.

czarina 07-11-2008 07:37 AM

if you're flying with kids, then YES, go first class!
Otherwise, get regular and at time of check-in ask if an upgrade is available... usually prices are much lower right there than buying before hand.

Peaches 07-11-2008 09:52 AM

I want my Daddy to pay for my plane trips!! Damn!

But yes, for that long a flight, especially with the lounge, it's worth it to upgrade, IMO.

Sosa 07-11-2008 09:57 AM

for that kind of money it would be economy

Hell Puppy 07-11-2008 09:14 PM

Here's how I quantify "worth it"...

You gotta ask yourself is it worth $5600 to avoid being uncomfortable and packed in like cattle for 20 hours during a trip.

4 hours or more I generally will go first class if at all possible. You arrive less stressed out. That and I really dig Delta's chicken dinner.

V_RocKs 07-11-2008 09:34 PM

Depends on how far he is flying...

Do your research about the airline and the particular aircraft that is used for the flight and check if good seats are still available. Seatguru will help you to see if the seats offered are ok: http://www.seatguru.com/

Most international flag carriers have a very good business class. Air Canada has for sure and the difference to First is not that big to justify the price difference. Most US carriers are crappy in both First and Business. I would go with their premium economy and try to purchase an upgrade for 500 bucks each way, as long as they have available seats. Their full price F and C fares are way to expensive.

Some top airlines offer additional services for First Class passengers that are a nice bonus. They pick you up from home with a Porsche Cayenne and drive you right to the airport with VIP security check with no lines to wait in. Some provide a butler to guide you through airports and who take care or your luggage, etc. It's very convenient.

wootpr0n 07-11-2008 11:52 PM

We're going first class and that settles that.

My dad is always doing these things last minute.

BTW, I still live at home, so of course daddy still pays for tickets. I'm only 20 and I still go to University.

Nice seats and lounge, but they aren't picking us up from our house, let alone in a Porsche!
