Is Vista Bad?
I bought a new laptop today - came with Vista. I've heard nothing but bad stuff about Vista lately - but this doesn't seem to be so bad. It'll take a little getting used to but overall, it seems fine. Can I expect issues?

Upgrade RAM :)

I also bought a new laptop today it came with Vista. I've heard nothing but bad stuff about Vista lately but this doesn't seem to be so bad. It'll take a little getting used to but overall, it seems fine. Can I expect issues?

vista sucks.. i am running windows ME and its awesome...
|
i havent used it, GF has it and ive really only seen the different desktop...
What i have heard is... the issues lie in program compatibility... it dosnt always play well with programs... other than that i do hear a lot of pleased people too... preference i guess and what all you use your computer for... |
for short term stuff it seems to run fine If I leave it running 24/7 it crashes....and I only use it on a media server.
It has a way to go before I would do anything mission critical with it....a LONG way to go |
Got a new laptop 2 days ago. Decided to give it a try because it turns out its a hassle reinstalling XP after Vista. :Oh crap
|
It runs smooth for me although getting drivers for the older stuff is a pain
|
Since there are now proper drivers for vista you should not have much problems, but make sure you have 2-4 gigs of ram and ready boost pen drive being the max of 4 gb and you will have a good system. O and a dual core does help :)
|
I got a new laptop and made sure it DIDNT have Vista.

How To Make Windows Vista Safe
|
Vista is crap.. you would have the same luck trying to run Linux for your first time...
|
Everyone gives way too much consideration to what o/s they are running. The truth is as long as it's stable I don't really care what my box is running.
I'm running Vista on my computer here and I'm doing fine with it. |
Vista sucks fucking balls and is a nightmare trying to get your favorite programs to run.Stick with XP. :2 cents:
|
Never had a problem with Vista, although I did try upgrading to Service Pack 1 a couple days ago and the fucker corrupted one of the start up files. The upgrade desk fixed the problem for me after a couple automated rounds, but still... fuck.
|
I got Vista... No problems and all my favorite programs run on it just fine.
|
I have had no problems with Vista, but I have had my friends who work or trouble shoot problems with computers say that when someone is using a computer with Vista can be complicating.

For some reason people follow the hype to say its bad. It comes from ignorance. Cant think of anything else. |

Sorry that was Krosh, not you Vrocks. Still you are ignorant if you say its shit.
|
Its so funny how a great OS gets bashed by all the sheep because they either read stuff from other sheep or they were too stupid to configure it after the first install. Now theyre pissed off and feel better by calling it shit.

I bought my laptop at the end of XP, so I got the free upgrade CD... Still haven't installed it. All I read about is how Vista requires more system resources, and I'm perfectly happy with XP. So I'm not sure why I should upgrade.
|
Jesus franck, lay off vista's cock...

You dont see me promoting Vista all over the place but i cant ignore this thread because of all the bs theres written in it. |
Running Vista on 1 laptop and 1 PC. XP on 1 laptop and the other PC. I like Vista after getting used to it. XP seems "Clunky" now, if that makes sense?

like i said, my experience it very limited but what I 'hear' is ... so... in other words, dont quote, but heres the heresay.... |

The only issue I have with vista is sometimes Adobe Bridge will crash if I have multiple apps running (usually just iTunes, PS, Illustrator and Dreamweaver). Other than that, it works like a champ for me.
|
I like Vista, it's nothing wrong with it and most applications work.
The only issue I've had was when I tried to run Visual Basic 6 projects. Now I have to do it from a Virtual XP installation. |
Vista was just fine but I like microsoft more

I got a laptop with Vista as well. I wiped it and installed XP. It was less power user friendly it seems. I couldn't use a lot of hot keys for windows explorer.
|
Been on Vista for a few months now, and had no real problems at all with it... :pimp
|
vista requirement memory is 1gb
i dunno why.... |
Ive had 0 issues with vista on any of my machines. End of story lol. Doesn't crash, doesn't have program compatibility issues, isn't a resource hog. People are sheep.
The whole "its cool to hate vista" thing. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh Who else remembers the same shit when XP came out. "Ill stick with 98 fuck xp" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
I am in vista now :)

I'm a Mac user mostly, but have Vista installed in a few places. I've never had an issue. No crashing, No issues with old software or hardware. Nothing. We have an OEM install disc of Vista Ultimate with none of the bloatware the PC manufacturers install, so that helps I'm sure.
