Going whale watching

Blue whale season. They were always my favorite as a kid. Hope we find one.

kenny 07-12-2008 09:21 AM

What are the odds of finding one?

BTW, I've always wanted to do that.

the content guy 07-12-2008 09:22 AM

Stop by Sebastian Sand's place, he has a bunch of them there.

Tom_PM 07-12-2008 10:02 AM

Thought it was gonna be a joke about heading out to the mall or something.

Sounds really fun, good luck on snapping some pics!

baddog 07-12-2008 03:59 PM

Well, no whales. Hit a pod of feeding dolphins. Will put up some pics later. Gotta go for a bike ride.

Dagwolf 07-12-2008 04:06 PM

Sorry you didn't see the whales. I always planned to go watch the killer whales when I was in BC but never made it to the coast at the right time. :P

I kept missing the salmon run too.

papill0n 07-12-2008 04:11 PM

From Hervey Bay, about 300 miles north of where I live.

There's some places in Dana Point here even Newport who guarantee whale sightings. I doubt blue whale though.... those would be quite the sight. I've never seen one, just a LOT of killer whales in the straight of Georgia growing up.

Kard63 07-12-2008 04:17 PM

Oh, I thought you were visiting Indiana...

We will probably go again next season. Thinking of chartering the boat and making it a webmaster adventure.

I was, for a week, then I came home for 11 hours, then headed to Vegas for a few days, and now I am home again. I think I get 2 1/2 weeks here before I start over again.

A couple of pics.

First is the tips of dolphin fins, with me catching one in the second pics.

Click for the full sized, uncropped images.
