Don't see no helmets or padding for protection... Like the dude says - American football is rugby for girls |
i played rugby in college and that shit hurts. you dont wear any pads unlike football, so you catch a lot of elbows to the face
my last year that i played, a kid on our team ran full speed into someone from the other side and busted 3 of his ribs on the spot. i think that was the point i decided it was enough. |

Snaps look more brutal in gridiron, but the injuries in rugby are insane.
|
figures the foreigners would come over and decide to start a "LOLZ THATS PUSSY SHIT, RUGBY IS SO MORE MANLY, WHO WANTS TO RUB OIL ON MY CHEST AND HUG!?!?" argument...
Rugby has no pads, yes the hits HURT MORE, but american football the hits are HARDER, because of the pads, you think if someone took a hit like that without any padding anyone would be alive? have you ever wore a football helmet? that shit is on tight, if a hit could knock that thing clear off, then obviously without pads, it could seriously hurt you. so all in all, yes nfl is harder because of the pads, but rugby hurts more because of no pads. no go away with the stupid bullshit. |

hehe, who rattled your cage? Sorry, but that vid you showed doesn't show any harder hits than occur in rugby :2 cents: Put back your muscles, I was just levelling the playing field to thro away that long held American myth that your 'football' is the most physical professional sport out there... You wear fucking crash helmets and my bed doesn't even have that much padding.... |
|
Some great, painfull footage. i want to watch some more!:thumbsup

but yeah, that shit is just legalised violence! :thumbsup |
(real) football vs rugby... lol
|
To me, the 2 sports take the same hits, except one's wearing protection, the other isn't
However, in the interests of preventing me from being ignorant, could someone explain two glaring misnomers of NFL... 1)why 'football' when it's played with the hands 2)why 'touchdown' when you don't have to actually touch down the ball? |
Murderball is awesome.

Very funny comment indeed. Jaysin do you feel humbled? :winkwink:
|
would be nice to have a football team play a rugby team in rugby w/ rugby rules, etc... then a rugby team play a football team in football w/ football rules, pads, etc.
tally up the injuries and put it all to bed this should also happen once a year |
Some great looking hits indeed
|
Ouch that looks like that hurt

cant wait for football season, go giants :)

I have played both... The hits in U.S. football are MUCH harder than any hit I have ever seen someone take or every personally taken in Rugby. No Rugby player could take those hits, over and over, play after play, without pads.
Rugby is harder in totally different ways, and being hit is not at the top of that list. |

The hits are MUCH harder in the NFL because of the pads. If the rugby guys had the skills like the NFL guys, they would be in the NFL making the $$$ too.

Here's how I see it ... a fully grown man, who's stacked runs full force into you ... in both sports. Why do you say NFL is harder hitting, when they physical act of smashing into someone is virtually the same? NFL is not harder, nor is Rugby. NFL just has padding to make the bruising less intense. If you ask me ... the NFL guys are the one's better off ... making tons of cash and getting hurt less. Seems pretty smart to me! |

Just chill already and don't take it so personally :thumbsup |
