i played rugby in college and that shit hurts. you dont wear any pads unlike football, so you catch a lot of elbows to the face

my last year that i played, a kid on our team ran full speed into someone from the other side and busted 3 of his ribs on the spot. i think that was the point i decided it was enough.

I hate both sports but damn, I HATE it when American football fans think it's anywhere near as brutal as rugby. I have to concur ... American Football is nothing on Rugby.

Snaps look more brutal in gridiron, but the injuries in rugby are insane.

Rugby has no pads, yes the hits HURT MORE, but american football the hits are HARDER, because of the pads, you think if someone took a hit like that without any padding anyone would be alive?

have you ever wore a football helmet? that shit is on tight, if a hit could knock that thing clear off, then obviously without pads, it could seriously hurt you.

so all in all, yes nfl is harder because of the pads, but rugby hurts more because of no pads.

1)why 'football' when it's played with the hands
2)why 'touchdown' when you don't have to actually touch down the ball?

I have played both... The hits in U.S. football are MUCH harder than any hit I have ever seen someone take or every personally taken in Rugby. No Rugby player could take those hits, over and over, play after play, without pads.

Rugby is harder in totally different ways, and being hit is not at the top of that list.

The hits are MUCH harder in the NFL because of the pads. If the rugby guys had the skills like the NFL guys, they would be in the NFL making the $$$ too.

Watch the videos dude ... nothing in the NFL video looked worse than the Rugby one.

Here's how I see it ... a fully grown man, who's stacked runs full force into you ... in both sports. Why do you say NFL is harder hitting, when they physical act of smashing into someone is virtually the same? NFL is not harder, nor is Rugby. NFL just has padding to make the bruising less intense.

If you ask me ... the NFL guys are the one's better off ... making tons of cash and getting hurt less. Seems pretty smart to me!
