Have you ever tried to join a cam site and gotten this kind of run-around?

So I was going to start promoting some cams and decided to walk through the join process of the actual site of one of the cam companies I'm promoting.

I join, enter my cc info and login when I get the message:

Your credit card has a female name, so you need to call us to verify your info.

Okay, fine...fraud protection and blah-blah-blah.

I call them, obviously am able to verify all credit card and billing info and the customer service agent agrees to turn my account back on.

I go to login again today and my account has been suspended again and I need to call again.

I call again and they tell me that a "supervisor" has shut my account down because they still suspect I'm not who I say I am and I need to send them a copy of my photo ID and the credit card.

WTF??

I understand the need for aggressive fraud protection and that men sometimes use their wives cc's for porn (and the chargeback issues at hand), but Jesus Christ...

There are women on the internets and sometimes we do happen to buy porn (especially sites that are more interactive...hello) but making chicks jump through hoops in order to spend their money with you is alienating a significant portion of the credit card holding population.

...and maybe 10% of them are legitimate charges.

The first verification is annoying and obnoxious for a single shot test, but the secondary override was bullshit; you verified your information.

Wow... I guess they don't like women.

Ask them if they are doing this because you are a woman. Record the conversation, and then tell them you are going to talk to an attorney.

Yeah, I had absolutely no problem with the initial verification. It was having my account suspended the second time (with no notice) and the bullshit request that I run around scanning documents and shit so that I can get it turned back on.

I guess it sucks for women and for guys who have ambiguously feminine names. Think of all the guys named Jamie or Terry.

you really need to identify who this is. it's personal but it's also business.

Webcams.com. It's actually much more business than personal. If it was something that I wasn't promoting as a webmaster, I would be much less annoyed and probably wouldn't have even brought it up.
