i went to the doggie park and some jack ass brought two of his large dogs into the small dog area and not only did my dog get harassed by them so did i. my dog and i didn't last more than 30 seconds before i had to pick up her and leave.

what pisses me off the most is the lack of concern the owner had for the situation.

As much as I love you, I get the feeling you don't know much about dogs and what is natural for them.

Well, you gave them all of 30 seconds. There are right and wrong ways to deal with it, and it sounds from your description of events, you chose the latter.

Does your dog have a lot of prior time with other dogs? Does it have friends at the park that they like to hang with?

My dog gets along great with other dogs whether its the first time or regular play dates. In fact she regularly plays with large dogs like pit bulls & great Danes and the moment they first met it was okay and i was not worried about her.

When my dog makes unhappy sounds where shes clearly not happy i will act fast before its too late.

What i don't get is why you continue to question me. I understand you are older and with age comes wisdom. Are you trying to teach me something new? The polite thing if that was the route you wanted to take would have been "I'm not sure if you know this but in my experience then explain" instead of some crappy comment like "As much as I love you, I get the feeling you don't know much about dogs and what is natural for them"

LOL Classy

Your shoes are not from payless?

munki 07-15-2008 11:23 PM

I avoid the dog park crowd like the plague... I usually go early mornings with a core group I know well... We all trust each other, and each others dogs, and keep an eye out on things.

not sure wtf Baddog's deal is but the other owner sounds like a typical asshole oblivious to what others are going through. Probably a shitty driver too

papill0n 07-16-2008 01:06 AM

Some people at the dog park clearly do not give a shit about anyone else. I see it every day. They let their big dogs loose and then look the other way.

Get a bigger dog yourself, and that ass hat will stay away from you.

dynastoned 07-16-2008 01:22 AM

in my opinion big dogs are the dogs that need to take advantage of the dog parks the most. you people with your 5 pound rat dogs should just keep your ass at home. they don't need a bunch of space to run around and shit. in fact those dogs are a waste of space in my opinion. worthless, ankle biting, annoying fucking dogs.

i mean honestly what are they good for? i can understand an old lady or something that needs a companion that isn't going to run her down and shatter her hip or something. but it seems like everyone and their mom just wants to be like paris hilton now. so they can carry around their worthless yappy little dog in a hand bag like its some kind of fashion statement.

Back when I was married my wife and I used to take our dog to the park on Sundays (The Laurel Canyon 'bark park' for you L.A. folks) and I always thought, 'Man, if I'm ever single again, fuck the clubs. This is the place to meet chicks.' Models, wanna-be actresses, etc. It was a gold mine of friendly, single women.

pornguy 07-16-2008 06:24 AM

I have a medium size dog that will pick a fight with anything larger than she is.

love them dogs

czarina 07-16-2008 07:01 AM

I completely agree with you, Barbie. In my opinion, some people should get neutered so they can't reproduce and bring any more morons into this world. And they shouldnt be allowed to have pets!

Ross 07-16-2008 07:13 AM

I walk my dog off the leash at the park coz I know he'll do exactly as I tell him. Most of the time its other small dogs coming up to get in his face and sniff his ass etc and that REALLY annoys me. If your dog doesn't do what its told when off the leash it should be kept on the leash at ALL times. My dog even looks at me when he see's other dogs as if he's asking for permission to go over, I just say no and he puts his head down and walks on by my side. Too many idiots get dogs nowadays and don't spend enough time to train them. In my opinion its always the little dogs that are harder to train than big dogs. Thats not to say big dogs aren't pains in the ass as well. Its all about how your dog is trained.

Juicy D. Links 07-16-2008 07:26 AM

they wont let me in the dog park anymore , my dog goes crazy and starts humping the bitches.... he was known as the DogWhore and is banned :-(

I agree...I have a retriever and he stays off the leash when Im outside and he doesnt go more than a couple of feet from my side...and more often then not its a small yappy dog that comes running over and starts to bark and nip at him...he doesnt even retaliate and tries to walk away but the little dogs follow and keep yapping while the owner just stands there....and when you approach the idiot owners they say things like "oh shes just playing" etc etc...Ive come across way more usless small dog owners than big ones.

Tom_PM 07-16-2008 08:17 AM

Undisciplined wild neighbor kids are worse.. they have opposable thumbs and a rudimentary intelligence.

Damn, i posted that before i saw the other thread.

Would like to point out to spooky181 this had nothing to do with the story with what happened to his dog.

Some dog owners really shouldn't own dogs at all... :disgust

Same here man. There is a particular women who has two little dogs and she walks them off the leash at the park same time as me every day. Every day they run up to my dog and get in his face, I can see my dog just looking at me as if to say "dude sort this out" The woman has the cheek to say to me "they think they're much bigger than they actually are thats why they want to play with him" It wouldn't be that if my big dog ripped them apart. I wouldn't get away with saying "oh he thinks he's much smaller than he actually is"

I told my gf next time they come near I'm gonna tell the woman to get them away from my dog and keep them away from now on. They're nothing but a nuisance to every dog in the park.

justinsain 07-16-2008 09:25 AM

At my dog park they have separate areas for big dogs and little dogs and I think she said the guy brought his big dogs into the little dog area and then proceeded to let them go uncontrolled. Big difference than if it was just one big area for all dogs.

Anyway you look at it that's not cool.

tony286 07-16-2008 09:26 AM

also all the dogs there probably havent had their shots. Its not a good thing to expose your dog too.

Tom_PM 07-16-2008 09:31 AM

Are these parks due to a lack of having your own back yard/green area to run around and play in? Or just to socialize etc?

Wonder if I could build a "neighbor kid park". Chain link fence, 20ft high, enclosed roof... that'd work!!
