In your opinion, who are the biggest webmasters for traffic/sales in the industry?
 

OK so Internext is coming up and over the past 14 years I have seen a great deal of self-promotion as to who believes they are the biggest players in the industry for sales/traffic to affiliate programs. Yet when I get to conferences and watch them - they end up with max'd out CC and carry very little weight - always backing off when the check shows up.

So - in your opinion, who are the biggest webmasters for traffic/sales in the industry?

Not saying I havent' seen the real thing - I just am smiling when I see wanna bee's posting that they are the best and start flexing their plastic cards around but don't seem to know how to use them as if it was their mom's.

Since when are webmasters who send loads of sales expected to pick up a check for a program owner? I thought it was the other way around?

actually I know a pretty big fish, he does none of the shows or the boards. He just makes lots of money.

All the really big fish are mailers. Chances are they don't even live in the US.

Define player..
20k USD net income / month is normal for an avarage adult webmaster id say
50k USD net income / month is serious cash but your still not a player
100k USD net income / month something i would call player/baller what ever the kids call it

Nor will they set foot in the US lol

Sorry - I had to re check my entire post to see where I said, "pick up a check for a program owner".. nope.. not there.

And I would hate to think that big player is shadowed their entire time there by a program owner so that they dont pay for a thing.

The question is simple - your saying your a big player - and you promote yourself on the boards as one - YET - when push comes to shove, and your out with other friends, you can't afford it. Eg. Sleazy (who I dont think promotes himself as a big player though is a program owners eyes) tends to take his friends out for strippers and drinks, ends up spending a shitload of money on them just for fun. Is that the example your looking for?

I dont want to be, just want to make enough so I never have to go back to a day job again.

We have one of the biggest adult site in our colo and they never attend shows here in the U.S.
I truly wonder who's the biggest though.... (and how I can get that site to come to me lol)

i know you're talking about something entirely different, but i'd never tell anyone who the biggest whales are. they're like leprechauns. you want to see them yourself, but you sure the hell don't want anyone else seeing them.

Good point my friend - hadn't really thought of that angle that no one wants to talk about the real players... that the real ones don't want to be known and shut up with no need to impress anyone.

I think the big players are too big to be bragging, they don't have that kind of time and the people that I know that make that kind of money don't post...

Are you essentially saying that you watch what type of CC people use to determine their level of traffic?

Look at the ones who are making the LESS waves...

Usually, the way I see it is : The Louder the mouth (money wise), the lower the income...

Scott (Sleazy) is a great example BTW... As another example, it is no secret that Mike LA an Steve Lightspeed are quite big dogs in this pound (among others) and it happens that they're the ones who bark the less ... Just saying :2 cents:

No I dont 'watch', but you cant help but notice webmasters who post on here claiming they are the biggest whales out there, but in the end - can't even afford their own way to things or live in their mom's basement. I didn't want people to read into things literally here - but you havent noticed that at all?

Some of the biggest affiliates that Epic has, DO NOT post here or any of the other boards.

hm.. so goes back to what was said before - the really big whales dont need to impress or post on boards. Something to keep in mind if your in your parents basement pretending to be a huge whale when your not.

I know some big fish..they hired my ass...they don't talk at all about what they make, not even to me but I am paid well! They have been in the biz for many years and fly under the radar. I do all the pr work for them and work the boards..try and keep them up to date while they wade in the pool...I want to be like them when I grow up..lol:pimp

I doubt you will find many people that actually make a lot of money running to a board to say how well they do. More than likely those that do speak out loud about what they make do not make as much as they let on. Lets face it, if you make a shit load of money the less people that know about it the better. You want to help out who you want to help not have every beggar knocking on your door or sending you an ICQ as the case may be.

Then of course if you run around bragging about making tons of sales a day you also will have your ICQ lit up day in day out by account reps wanting you to push them.

I hope your average adult webmaster does not equate to average GFY poster :eyecrazy

Interesting - and based on what I have seen, most companies can claim to have over 5000 webmasters signed up but maybe less than 2% actually show something. Maybe 250 or 300 are producing.. and starting around that figure.

i can tell you that a good majority of em arent even on this board :)

people that make real money in this game barring a few would never tell the masses who they are or what they do on a public board because of the crooks that lurk in the dark.

here's a little story.

brought one of my big whales out one time. kid was all quiet looked like the kind of boy that would get picked on in high school probably was. since none of the people at the show knew him, they all treated him like a n00b, when in fact he's one of my biggest people that trusts anything i ask him too.

was comedy watching people tell him how to make money.
