TV - a threat to online adult?
 

I just switched to digital tv, and to my surprise, several 24/7 hardcore porn channels are included in the standard package. I looked at other packages in my country, and was rather shocked to find that many of the new digital cable companies include free 24/7 hc porn channels in their standard packages. Probably as an incentive to get people to switch.

I haven't done any real research, but it seems to me that if this trend spreads, it could do some serious damage to the industry. Having free hardcore porn on a 60" plasma would beat paying for it on a 20" monitor for most people, I think.

I used to have a motorised satellite sytem and I could pick up tones of hard core porn channels from all over Europe. At the time you could buy a card for £80 and go online and write over it to receive tones of free channels including all the hardcore porn chanels. The channels would eventualy block it but it only took a week or so before somebody else had cracked it and you could be watching free channels again.

This is somewhat different, though. Here, you have something that will actually replace normal cable over the next few years. Plus, with the channels officially included in the package, being able to handle a remote is all the tech knowledge one needs.

If this happens in more countries, the industry's going to take a big fucking hit :2 cents:

Typically porn is watched in secret, like a bedroom or office. Most people have their large television in their living room and for those married w/kids, they can't really sit in the living room and stroke one out to Tranny porn :)

I'd say portable devices are the future. Can't discount need for people to sneak off somewhere private and get a nut.

I aggree here, I cant imagine a married guy watching porn on a huge plasma in his lounge It would be to risky. Might be different with single guys living on thier own though

A fairly large percentage of signups come from single guys aged 30+. The ones with money for nice computers and porn subscriptions, but not enough familiarity with the internet to get everything for free. Unfortunately, those same guys are the ones who are likely to have one or more big televisions, and are among the first to switch to new technologies like digital tv.

Aside from that, don't most people have a tv in the bedroom these days?

Given how awful the service is for Charter, and Comcast, I don't think there's much of a threat. I've actually gone through and randomly 'rented' on demand for their awful R rated cheesecake 'can't see it' simulated sex where he's somehow humping her under her ass and she's grinding on his lower ribs..

Even with my high speed service and a barely-used on-demand, it takes 2 tries, and 3 reloads to even get it to start. Then, you have FF, REW, PAUSE, and STOP - but if you let it FF/REW too long, it gets 'stuck', and the best you can do is mash on the STOP button.

It's like having a broken VCR from the 80s. It's hardly going to make a difference until it gets much, much better.

What I have over here are just hardcore, explicit channels. Private Spice and Hustler TV, as well as Playboy TV. When I took a look half an hour ago, the programs that were on were "naughty amateur home videos", "cum stained casting couch" and "quad desert anal fury".

No need to rent anything, nothing getting stuck, just free porn, 24/7.
