Have you ever been embarrassed talking to your domain registrar?

I just got off the phone with GoDaddy support about some domain issues and I must admit I was a little embarrassed talking to the lady on the other end about domains like motherfuckinggood.com and moundmunchers.com, etc etc.

Anyone else felt this way or are you all just hardened? I have only been in the biz since 1994 so maybe my feelings haven't desensitized yet.

CyberHustler 07-18-2008 01:10 AM

I've never had to call my domain registrar... yet :1orglaugh

Monique Niccole 07-18-2008 01:11 AM

Only talked to them once and hated it. One should not have to say "bukkake" over the phone.

Sharky 07-18-2008 01:11 AM

lol. I remember when you couldn't register a domain with "fuck" in it! lol

Now thats great! Having talked to you I know how innocent you sound. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the call center after that!

hypedough 07-18-2008 01:16 AM

I absolutely hate it when something can't be solved online and you need to call in and talk about your cumstain and bukkake domains lol.

the content guy 07-18-2008 01:17 AM

LOL, yeah I seriously hate it but unfortunately I keep on having issues with godaddy, last month I had to discuss fuckingfordummies and mycumsuckers, luckily I had a male sales rep that time so it wasn't as bad.

mynameisjim 07-18-2008 01:20 AM

I even hate e-mailing my host when I have to mention the domain let alone talking to someone on the phone.

I don't know. If I had a female rep I would try to get her to say "mycumsuckers" as much as possible during the conversation.

"um, can you repeat that back to me please.....slowly this time"

fitzmulti 07-18-2008 01:25 AM

I have my own account exec @ GoDaddy, so I only have to deal with one person...and he's cool. Dealt with him specifically for close to 3 years now, and he's all good about it!

;-)

LOL, funny

Violetta 07-18-2008 04:03 AM

haha... yeah I know what you are talking about!

The Duck 07-18-2008 04:04 AM

I never had to call namecheap so far, and its been years!

fris 07-18-2008 04:06 AM

never had to call namecheap, but godaddy i cant even count how many times, you would think if they can afford a superbowl commercial, they could afford a 800 number

dynastoned 07-18-2008 04:06 AM

lol yeah that shit is funny when they call you about a domain called cumcoveredfaces.org or something. cracks me up every time.

bloggingseo 07-18-2008 05:04 AM

I've had that happen and it was very embarassing! but they can see your list of domains anyway before you even answer so that's funny as hell, they already know what your domains are

CunningStunt 07-18-2008 05:06 AM

Never spoken to them, but can imagine horsefuckinggoatdonkeyfuckers.com **might** raise an eyebrow.

Yes I should go with that account exec route, I have around a hundred domains with them and get constant calls from them when renewal times come around. It would definitely be easier dealing with one person. Thanks for reminding me of that option. :thumbsup

Gillespie 07-18-2008 06:12 AM

Lol great thread.

I hate it when I have to submit support tickets to either my hosting or my registrar. Fortunately I've never had to call them. I'm not sure I could.

eroticsexxx 07-18-2008 10:29 AM

Hell no. I have no shame.

(Recently after troubleshooting a bandwidth issue...)

Rep: Would you like to complete that order for myperiodison.com, which is in your account cart Mr. xxx?

Me: Yes, please.

Rep: Thank you for using godaddy. Can I send you a survey regarding this call?

Me: Of course, as long as you make sure to visit my site.

<Silence>...<dialtone>

Chris 07-18-2008 10:33 AM

ugh yea recently i had to call domain company about two domains
one was a an anal domain and the other a bbw domain :(

i bet that make great stories for them tho

HorseShit 07-18-2008 10:43 AM

yes, virginpussyfuckfest the girl rep sounded cute

SteveHardeman 07-18-2008 10:50 AM

I've thought about being embarassed but GoDaddy seems to be the most liberal registrar out there. So, I register all my on-adult sites with another registrar and host all my cum, suck, whore comains with GoDaddy. Didn't they have some commercial for the Superbowl about Danica's beaver?

I think they know how big adult is and court those sites anyway so I don't even bat an eyelash whe I have to call GoDaddy.

CIVMatt 07-18-2008 10:50 AM

lol yeah I just had to call them about some squirting domains etc... lol

Just be glad you don't own a domain like sexysevenyearsolds.com.....you'd hang up and within minutes...a knock on the door...

acctman 07-18-2008 11:14 AM

i've talk to ThePlanet Service Hosting, godaddy, lawyers, and crappy cheapies/domainnamesystems about adult domains. never once was embarassed. I'm usually pissed off about something when calling.

its all business no need to be embarassed, I'm pretty sure they've bookmarked a few of my sites to view later at home.

Tom_PM 07-18-2008 11:27 AM

I'm usually more embarrassed than they are, lol. Did have a woman call once offering to get me #1 listings for some porn terms. She hesitated a lot while going over my ads with porn terms. A lot of "um um um" and swallowing and fake coughing, hehe.

After a while though, she told me that she was a lesbian, and she and her girlfriend liked watching porn together. Good sales tactic trying to make me more comfortable, but like I told her, "go ahead and get me to #1 and then I'll pay you".

:error

czarina 07-18-2008 11:28 AM

imagine if you owned "ilike2cocksinmyass.com"!

HorseShit 07-18-2008 11:41 AM

as a joke I think I will get ilovetofucktheregistrarreps.com

the content guy 07-18-2008 12:49 PM

Just an added note. It is kind of funny how many people really are cool about adult. I used to have a large marker board in my office with all the domains listed on it, for brainstorming purposes. I had to finally take it down because every fucking UPS, Fedex and mailman would hang around forever staring at the board laughing and asking about every domain. Was a pain in the ass. Like flies on shit.

geedub 07-18-2008 12:55 PM

never with them, but once i had to fax my bank some invoices that had all this gay/cum shit on it.. oh man..

u-Bob 07-18-2008 01:38 PM

never... and I own a couple really weird domains :)

d-null 07-18-2008 01:41 PM

yeah, and even worse was when I was on my cell phone with other people listening around me

John. 07-18-2008 01:48 PM

I actually have never had to discuss any of my domains on the phone with a registrar, only a couple of times via email. I'm dreading the day I ever had to do it over the phone though. Glad to see the old hats here feel the sameway.

the content guy 07-18-2008 04:29 PM

this thread is getting no love, I was hoping for more stories, c'mon guys, fess up with your confessions

Sly 07-18-2008 04:36 PM

It has never bothered me yet...

2012 07-18-2008 04:36 PM

i dont give a fuck anymore

st0ned 07-18-2008 05:26 PM

Many times, mostly when I have to discuss meatspin. :1orglaugh

rowan 07-18-2008 05:52 PM

Never had to mention domains on the phone, but I did once send a DMCA to an obviously female name, which would have required her to VIEW the content. She was 100% professional and replied immediately that she was taking affirmative action. :thumbsup

Furious_Male 07-18-2008 05:59 PM

Anytime I have to discuss adult domains with a registrar (or any other company that deals with both adult and mainstream) I ask the rep if they are comfortable dealing with adult. I have never had anyone say no.

Jon Clark - BANNED FOR LIFE 07-18-2008 10:09 PM

Is this really the adult industry..?

:2 cents:

brandonstills 07-18-2008 10:57 PM

I spoke with a tech and he mentioned he loved my domain names. I wasn't even talking to any of them in particular he just saw them and brought it up.

wait into you are in court for something then its really the worst

fuzzylogic 07-18-2008 11:28 PM

i have had to call a few times regarding some adult domains with female reps. each time i find it embarrassing but i remind myself that both I and her are doing a job. So i put on my professional voice and she does as well. there has never been a problem, humor or otherwise while on the phone.

Yup, I have about 500, so you can just imagine what a pain in the ass it would be w/o a rep! :P
I dropped you an ICQ...
Fitz

Ad3pt 07-19-2008 09:58 AM

You shouldn't be ashamed since you pay them for their product. We resell registrations through wild west - a godaddy company and handle all issues my customers can't resolve in their admin area.
