Hey Car Peops... Got any good CAR DETAILING TIPS//TECHNIQUES/PRODUCTS...
for all the car aficionados that do their own detailing, any tips, advice, recommendations, techniques that work...?
I always use meguiars products for years, and i am going to try their new Product NXT Tech Wax this weekend. Anyone tried it? feedback? i always hear people swearing by Klasse Products.... anyone here? feedback? post what you got, want to make my car look like better than new... |
There used to be a professional wax that I used back in the day. It was called White magic. try and find that will last you about 3 months with each application and you can wash in that three months with soapy water.

I ran a detail shop on the side back in the mid to early 90's. You'll need to be more specific in though hehe. I could probably write a book on it. There is a ton of stuff we did that people normally dont think of. Tricks to get the dirt out of the crevices in the interior, tricks to get the inner fenders looking like new again. There are just so many products out now, its hard to even narrow some stuff down. Our tire shine came from a wholesaler that came around in a box van, and we bought it in 5 gallon containers. Forget the name now, but its a blue liquid and smells like berries.

how about spraying PAM on the rims to repel brake dust? does that work or is it BS? what about using an orbital polisher-vs-hand??? my main thing is getting teh exterior to be like glass again. my interior is spotless. |

i have seen black magic brand but never white magic... i will try and find this brand. thnx |
That new tech wax is pretty nice. It's easier to remove (if you don't put it on too thick), and seems to last much longer. I really like it.

Autopia.org :) (It's not an industry site, but if I'm not allowed to post it, oh well)

Have you tried clay first? Its easier and will remove most if not all oxidation on the paint.
If you choose to rub the paint dont hold the polisher in the same spot for to long or you'll burn the paint. Its best to tape off the hard edges of the car as well to avoid burning through. Meguirs makes a final detail that works well in between washes. |

i was pretty impressed with it too. first time i used the meguiars 3 step. i always used their cleaner waxes, or the black gold one (cant think of the name). BUt their new wax, the NXT Tech is suppose to be even better. I purchased it and may just go with it but that tutrle wax ice product i just read and sounds so good when you read it.... i may have to pick up a bottle and do a test on my hood or something. my car is like my life lol, im not into jewelry or suits or watches.... so i enjoy taking care of my car and keeping it in mint condition... |

NXT Tech Wax people say that is good!

If you need to get rid of dust in and around the little hard to get spots on your dashboard use a non alcohol based Windex. I used to work in a body shop for a while and that used to savbe a hell of a lot of time.
