Any spice experts?

I recently learned how to make gingered walnuts. I figured if you could use ginger, you can substitute other flavorful spices and still come out with a tasty treat.

I tried nutmeg, not too bad. Figured I would try cinnamon next. Anyone have any spice suggestions that would go good on walnuts?

Can't stand walnuts.

You might like to try cloves, galangal (ginger like), cassia (cinnamon's cousin), star anise (licorice like flavor)
or blends of:
- cumin, cayenne and salt
- cayenne and brown sugar
- brown sugar, cinnamon and allspice

Seasoned to your taste of course :)

garlic and ginger with a dash of fresh cilantro (makes a big difference when you use fresh spices as compared to dried spices)..mix it up with veggies .

If you can get real creative.. try making your own spring rolls..

Few of my favorites. Guessing you already understand cooking process. Also suggest unsalted butter for all listed.

1/4 cup melted butter
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cayenne
about 1 pound nuts

2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp worcestershire
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp cayenne
about 1/2 pound nuts

1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup honey
dash salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
about 1/2 pound nuts

2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup worcestershire
1 tbsp ketchup
2-4 dashes hot sauce
about 1/2 pound nuts

3 tbsp butter
1 pack onion soup mix
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp cumin
about 1/2 pound nuts

Oh yes if any one asks. I do keep the majority of my recipes on my laptop.

Although its a herb not a spice, try rosemary.

Cilantro sounds cool, but please don't over estimate my enthusiasm. I do the walnuts because they are quick and easy. Two of the primary qualities I look for in any kitchen adventures. :)

I knew there had to be one topic that would draw you out. Hope all is well. Say hello to the missus.

I sprinkle brown sugar at the end.

There are a couple spices mentioned that I had thought about and the Worcestershire instead of soy opens up whole new ideas. So thanks,

Did anyone mention All Spice, Coriander or Tabasco?

Cumin and Caraway is a common grind in my spice grinder which might make for a good walnut with Kosher salt
