Why is Obama 5x more popular than McCain?

In the UK, and yet in the US he barely holds onto a 6% lead in the polls in the US?

Why do YOU think? Are Americans retarded? Or are UKers detached from US politics?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 07-21-2008 11:57 AM

The elections are rigged. So the system has to make it look close for the outcome of a MCcain win to make sense. Americans do not give a shit about elections anymore.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 07-21-2008 12:07 PM

If elections really mattered USA would have had Gore.

I think that most foreigners see McCain as another Bush because of his Iraq policy... even though there Iraq policies have a lot of different points and McCain would have done things much different from the start.

McCain is more like Schwarzenegger than Bush, I would say... but most don't know that.

Violetta 07-21-2008 12:12 PM

well... america chose Bush x2. I have realized that I do not understand their thinkin

LOL...i dont think Arnold is wishy washy and change his ideals for whoever he speaks to. Arnold is more of an American hero than Mccain is IMO. Mccain's campaign is like a day at the beach. Full of flip flops.

Every presidential campaign is full of flip-flops. The minute the opponent changes, so do views... Obama has more than his fair share as well, as do his supporters. Just last week some of his supporters were getting hammered for changing their views on him only nine months later, after they got knocked out of the race, of course.

Nobody should listen to what they say on campaign trails. Obama is talking about pulling troops within 16 months... didn't the whole Democratic Party say that over two years ago? And what happened?

Michaelious 07-21-2008 12:19 PM

Our news systems are better in the UK in general. I'm in U.S. right now with GF and most of the news is only politics and you can tell which station prefers which candidate.
BBC News needs to be completely unbiased for example.

LMAO!! Yeah, the BBC is so unbiased that the head of the the BBC was forced to resign because their Iraq war coverage was shown to be so far to the left! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

That is because for the most part both (Yanks and Limies) are still holding too tightly to beyond conservative ""values"".

Thus, for both the US & the UK, the fossilized white guy it is!

What I'd like to know is what on earth makes these people think McShame is going to be any different than his bed buddy (Bush)? Also, WTF do people insist on voting for seniors?

Firstly, everybody knows that they (seniors) are among the biggest hypocrites around---they lobby against things they did when they were young, because with Death knocking on their door they've suddenly developed a conscience and will do whatever they can to get their worthless ass in to heaven.
Also, we all know that you can not teach an old dog new tricks.

Well, not many doggies are mentally and/or physically older than McLame!

mikesouth 07-21-2008 12:31 PM

Because little boots is such a royal fuck up

DaddyHalbucks 07-21-2008 12:36 PM

Perhaps foreigners favor a weaker US President.

IllTestYourGirls 07-21-2008 12:37 PM

it is close because americans are realizing what a lying POS Obama is after he voted for the FISA bill. THere goes his election promise of getting rid of unconstitutional laws. Obama will only bring more of bush/neocon policies just like mccain.

The american people already knew McCain was a POS. So now its even.

why would you think or even start to assume that the average person in one country is more well versed in the politics and social issues of another?

I am starting to think that its due to the same reason that:

The euro is stronger than the dollar

The crime rate over there is much lower

and many other comparisons

Maybe the lack of a country bumpkin mentality in the EU has allowed them to progress faster in the area of free thought and social inovation.

I dont know

I love this country like you wouldnt believe nut I gotta tell ya.... I was very diosapointed that we elected Bush twice

twice

We elected Bush twice

I think the statement behind the actions that gave this man the keys to the white house are so lound and deafing that no one seems to be listening

IObama has a huge amount of work in front of him

I feel he is the only person who can fix it now

robfantasy 07-21-2008 01:07 PM

90% of the US population are complete morons

I can't believe what some Americans think. It's just plain incredible that you even consider McCain as a president.

Let him be the next president and you can bet on a 9/11 remake. :anon

Molecule 07-21-2008 01:21 PM

There are a few reasons Obama seems 5x more popular than McCain.
Bush's approval ratings are abysmal and Obama is the opposing parties' nominee.
The national and internation media loves Obama and they've been cheering for him since he started running.
and the #1 reason he is such a media darling: Obama is the first viable black candidate for president. There's an elephant in the room that the media doesn't like to acknowledge and it's nickname is white guilt.

A lot of misconceptions in this thread..

People from OUTSIDE of the country are always going to have a distorted view compared to the people living inside the country.

Countries in EU have horrible street crime and poverty... But do us in the US or Canada hear about it?

All news sources are very unreliable..

What worries me is that American blacks hate Obama soo much.

Tom_PM 07-21-2008 01:48 PM

McCains party jumped the shark.
