What's the best "over the counter" sleep medicine?
Never tried any, does it work? :helpme
|
I like Advil PMs they are the best ones I have tried!
|
Not really a sleep medicine but try melatonin. Once in a while I will take one about 30-45 minutes before bedtime and I always sleep 6+ hours without interruptions. Without melatonin I always wake up several times a night for no apparent reason. You can get it at GNC.

depends what's the cause of your insomnia, if it's only occasional it should help you fall asleep faster

Take a couple extra strength Equate brand (walmart) sleeping pills. It'll knock your ass out. Normal over the counter pills have 25mg per dose of the stuff that makes you sleepy. Those extra strength have 50mg (per pill), so if you take 2 then that's 100mg. Don't plan on doing much tomorrow. Otherwise just take one (which is still twice the strength of normal sleep aids).

I took some for about 5 days or so a few years back, falling asleep was smooth but during the day I felt like shit, without any energy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doxylamine
Doxylamine is a member of the ethanolamine class of antihistamines and has anti-allergy power superior to almost every other antihistamine on the market, with the exception of diphenhydramine (Benadryl).[1] It is also the most effective over-the-counter sedative available in the United States,[2] and is more sedating than some prescription hypnotics. In a study, it was found that doxylamine succinate is possibly more effective than the barbiturate phenobarbital for use as a sedative. Most of the name brand sleeping meds is just benadryl which does work for most people. |

I believe that because my doc prescribed me 1mg Xanax to take at bedtime and these Tylenol PM's work just as good IMO. (for falling asleep) :upsidedow |
Vodka. Plenty of vodka.

yeah "insert booze" or melatonin will do the trick - melatonin has less side effects then alcohol - drinking in moderation is actually a stimulant - no to Tylenol pm unless pains what's keeping you up, it just upsets my stomach!

Try a product called "Liquid Relaxation" I got it online from http://www.netnutri.com/browse.cfm/4...FSQbagodLl6ilA
works pretty good, it's orange flavored. They said that there not producing anymore of it though. So if it works for you you have to buy as much as you can. |
