Wrist/Arm pain?

anyone have those? in the last couple of days ive had my wrist/palm killing me to the point where i can't hold the mouse, anyone got any ideas? im going to see the doctor today...

CuriousToyBoy 07-23-2008 04:40 AM

Could be carpal tunnel or even, wait for it, washerwoman's syndrome.

I spent 7 days in a plaster cast a few years back same thing - doctor said all from the bad positioning of the mouse and overuse.

I shit you not.

so did u get a new mouse or?

Antonio 07-23-2008 04:48 AM

I think most of the people here will get it sooner or later, I don't think human fingers have been designed to work so much, and by the look of it by the time they create at least half-ass decent speech recognition software I'll be in my early 70s

Get a trackball you won't have any wrist pain anymore, once you get used to them you will never want to use mouses again :pimp

i hear trackballs aren't the best for photoshop/illustrator...

MetaMan 07-23-2008 05:17 AM

hopefully it keeps up to the point where it will be to painful so we will never have to see you post again?

Violetta 07-23-2008 05:24 AM

tight vains?

notime 07-23-2008 05:28 AM

I am using my left hand instead of my right one the last few years

bignasty 07-23-2008 05:31 AM

back when i did mechanic work i had the same problem for grabbing wrenches all day. doctor should have a little brace that will go around your wrist that will help it.

:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

I had awful wrist pain for months and months. Switched to a trackball, and within 2 months the pain was completely gone, and 3-4 years later it's still gone.

And, I use photoshop daily and don't have any problems using a trackball with it. Not sure where Oracle got that from.

I also have minor pain in wrist, i know its because of mouse.

Also, trackball guys .. I never used it, doesn't it transfer wrist work to finger? and so the finger or its base in hand start paining some day?

qxm 07-23-2008 07:26 AM

sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome........

ADL Colin 07-23-2008 07:30 AM

I bought a wrist rest and the pain went away that day

Bratt 07-23-2008 07:31 AM

ya, sounds like capal tunnel to me too. I have pain in my wrist/elbow too. My elbow is prolly from an old fracture I had when I was 17, but my wrist/hand is from carpal tunnel. I wear a wrist brace sometimes and that helps alot.

Ross 07-23-2008 07:36 AM

I wouldn't say its a pain but its certainly an uncomfortable feeling...

tranza 07-23-2008 07:37 AM

Vick! 07-23-2008 07:43 AM

I did that too, it worked. Then one day my wrist was hurting so bad, I tossed the thing. It was pinching, putting too much pressure on my wrist from resting it there. It felt better without it for a while.

Most important is your posture. Make sure your hips and spine are straight, and your arms comfortable height.

cherrylula 08-04-2008 06:44 AM

and its always good to take a couple days away from the computer... that will help.

Scott McD 08-04-2008 06:46 AM

Try cutting down on masturbating to 3 times per day...

Sarah_Jayne 08-04-2008 06:57 AM

A few years ago I had the same thing and went to the doctor and was told I have golfer's elbow from using the mouse and keyboard. They gave me some shot into the bone (I will admit that this wasn't nice) and then it was fine. Since then I use those wrist rests and a raised keyboard and it hasn't repeated.
