HELP with Outlook

The emails won't leave the Outbox, they sit there forever.

I can receive emails tho.

The error is the 0x80042109 which refers to the SMTP e-mail server. It doesn't look like to me it's a server issue since i am the only one that can't send emails .

I tried from 3 different email accounts ( 3 different servers and hosting providers) , the people working with me using the same servers don't have the same problem.

any idea?

Please no comment about Microsoft and Outlook, leave the same boring comments out.

First, check is everything ok with email account, and you can do that by using webmail. If everything is ok , try to disable some firewall you are using. If you don't have one (except windows default), check manually all parametres ,are they typed good.

I didn't touch any of those things, this happened all of a sudden.

But i will re-check everything anyway.

thx.

well I got several account configurations stored according to each ip provider I use with my laptop with different smtp settings.

Sometimes it suddenly tries to send a reply to an email I received through one configuration via other (different smtp) therefore I need to re-check manually what account I am using for sending and resend .

That's the only minor thing that I experienced using Outlook.

I guess you're smarter than to get harrassed by this though.

see if you need to check the box for server authentication for your outgoing messages

Very interesting!

Did you switch providers recently? Or did your ISP recently update their network's mail configuration rules?

The message you are getting usually occurs when an ISP doesn't allow you to connect to an external SMTP server on port 25 and thereby locks you into using their SMTP server exclusively. They do this to block spammers. Perhaps that could be the issue. Could be.

External mail providers have circumvented this by providing alternate ports (587, 2525, et al)

First, try using your ISP's SMTP server as outgoing for all of your accounts. If everything works then you know that it's their new anti-spam policy.

That way can end up being a pain if your ISP's SMTP server sucks (or if you travel with a laptop) though, so a permanent fix is to use the alternate port configuration from your external mail account providers.

Your firewall is blocking the outgoing mail port.

yep... try different ports as mentioned
