Why is Obama giving an open air speech in front of a huge adoring crowd in Germany?

Is he campaigning to be their president too? Wouldnt it make more sense if he'd wait after being president before talking to Europe as if he is the leader of the free world... and telling them how he sees a closer US-Europe relationship in the future, etc... ? But I guess it would have no photo op value since he'd already be president... :Oh crap

Because he won the ring toss, of course.

I seem to remember a certain candidate in 2004 doing the same exact thing and we all know how that turned out. America doesn't like presumptuous people.

Think with Kerry he went and talked to France on his own. Think it was France. All blurs after 4 years lol.

people over here love obama - his speech today showed that the relations between the USA and the rest of the world, that George W. drove into the gutter, would be revived and also the US would tremendously benefit from that spirit.

It's kinda scary that you can't see the connection.

It was, then he wouldn't say which country supported his views... If anything it hurt him more., this whole elusive, other countries agrea with removeing our troop thing... he was mentioning.

Bush even called him on it, if I remember correctly in one of the debates, and Kerry didn't say...

Americans, are Nationalist. We don't want to be told by France, hey we will be your friends if you vote for...

First of, people in the US already knew Obama would be better than Bush when it comes to reestablishing their good name on the world stage... Make no mistake, what Obama did was a photo op, banking on his cult personality, well written speeches and the myth that he is the ultimate anti-war candidate... He'll certainly give the US the impression that he is loved all over the world and the US citizen will benefit from it, but i thought he did that in a pretentious, presumptuous, opportunistic and id add deceitful manner... Maybe when Obama will strike Pakistan as he wants to do, the 200,000 wide eyed admirers chanting "Yes WE CAN!" today will realized they've been coned by just another politician :2 cents:

btw - "anti war candiate" you can't call him after this speech today. he made clear that there's no withdrawal from Afghanistan or Irak at the moment and that also Europe has to play its part. not exactly what "we" like to hear since it would involve troops we have to send, but it is like it is: if Bush had said the same they would have thrown tomatos at him. for obama they cheered. people were reminded of JFK and his famous Berlin speech and that alone makes him stand out compared to someone like McCain. they'd probably also throw tomatos at him cause for most of the people here he's just another George Bush

We need Obama to bring an end to the stupidities and make the economy stronger and a stronger US $ for all of us! :)

That's if he ever becomes Prez!

Exactly.

If the US want's to avoid a depression rather than just a recession, they need to elect Obama.
