Page Rank update comming soon

in the next 3 days says Matt Cutts. They are also expiring some old penalties on sites. Not much info on that though.

pornguy 07-25-2008 01:31 PM

IM still amazed how much weight people put on PR instead of traffic numbers.

BradM 07-25-2008 01:34 PM

I have 2 clients who has results shifting all over the place. #1 one day, #19 the next then #4. It's all over (3+ mil term phrases)

Sosa 07-25-2008 01:52 PM

PR_Sebas 07-25-2008 01:52 PM

Vick! 07-25-2008 04:20 PM

Its actually being updated already .. seeing changes.

Klen 07-25-2008 04:20 PM

Huh i already see tons of changes

d-null 07-25-2008 04:24 PM

REALLY BAD time for this, stupid HACKERS causing a bunch of sites to be down the last day and if they do a PR update when a site is down it tends to lose all pr

BSleazy 07-25-2008 04:25 PM

They use data that's been collected over time so a site being down when they do the update isn't going to lose any pr. Just like if you get a bunch of high pr inbound links a week before the update they aren't really going to count.

BradM 07-25-2008 04:27 PM

Yep... shit is changing now. Gained 1-3 on a site and a few other small changes so far.

Shamus McFamous 07-25-2008 04:30 PM

I now have a network of pr8 adult sites.

I hope so but I have seen otherwise in previous updates, hope I was just seeing something else and interpreting it wrong, but this could be ugly, have some domains in 'storage' with a little content but lots of links that are down at the moment, and would hate to lose all pr due to being down while this update is happening

and regardless whether people say pr matters or doesn't, it makes a big difference in selling domains and link trading :2 cents:

They export the value based on the snapshot taken a while back, which according to my experience is 3-4 weeks.

So, if your site was down yesterday or the day before .. you are not going to lose any PR.

Klen 07-25-2008 04:47 PM

I noticed a lot my sites lost their pr,but also some of them gained nice pr like 3 and 4.
Time to increase price of my hardlink package ;D ;D ;D

agree with you, there seems to be little correlation between traffic numbers and PR, my best traffic is on a pr2 and I've got PR3's that get hardly any even better on some PR0's

WiredGuy 07-25-2008 10:19 PM

I'm amazed by the legions of people who trust Matt Cutts to every breath.

All HAil WiredGuy!!!

:bowdown

Jdoughs 07-26-2008 01:40 AM

Trust him or not, the update has started to go live so it was certainly within "the next 3 days"

SO now that the PR part came true, lets see some of these penalized domains pop out :)

looks like you are correct, I've got sites down that gained pr, and a pr3 that was down a month or so ago for a few weeks has dropped to pr0 and the links never changed on it

Nobody here said they trust him. He was right about the PR update though. You know anything more about this penalty expiration?

V_RocKs 07-26-2008 04:49 PM
