EU would not exist as we know it without USA
 

I'm just watching Obama on CNN, and he say that EU would not exist without the huge sacrifices the US tax payers and troops gave, WTF ?? :1orglaugh:helpme
Anyway, thanks to the americans for making it so nice for us in Europe :winkwink:
Also he admits that US made mistakes but say he won't say I'm sorry, but rather look at the future. That's a nice way to strengthen the diplomatic contacts :thumbsup

Fact, if the US removed our 80k to 100k (may be more than that) troops and equipment from Europe you would have to build bigger armies and could not afford the socialism that a lot of Europe enjoys. :2 cents:

That's so very far from 'fact' as to be absurd. Sit and think carefully why your statement fails on so many points. As a starter I'll point you to Germany BEFORE they started rebuilding their army. However, the subject goes oh so much deeper than that.

You could also argue than building an army would be an actual investment in the future since all the commcercials / recruitment for joining the army state they build leaders, higher integrity and educate people in general. So wouldn't it be better for europe it was done within europe ?
I never followed various news about armies and such so can't really comment on it, for many europeans the army is not considered a highly important subject to discuss.
If I am not mistaken Denmark did send at least 200-300 soldiers an possible a plane or a helicoptor to help in Iraq :1orglaugh

I don't think it is fair to blame the EU entirely on the US. Many different groups and events contributed to the catastrophe. :2 cents:

Of course the EU would not exist as we know it without the USA. Hell the USA would not exist as we know it without the French or Mexico for instance either. Everything has some cause and effect.

Hell can anyone even say for sure that the French would of had a revolution if the USA had not done so before it? Just way to many damn possibilities.

Lastly I really do not think Obama should be doing any type of apologies for the US at this stage. Hell he is addressing them and trying to fix some bridges that were really badly burnt over the past 7 or so years. Give him a break.
