Two Arrests Reported in Sniper Case

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - At least two people have been arrested in connection with the investigation of the serial sniper blamed for 10 deaths in and around the U.S. capital, CNN and Fox News reported on Thursday.

Is it finally going to end? Children in nearby states will have a safe halloween? Hopefully!

Mr.Fiction 10-24-2002 01:42 AM

The news story I saw said that they think these two might have provided weapons to the sniper, but they stopped short of saying they thought they were the sniper.

Time will tell.

DemonWolfe 10-24-2002 01:42 AM

I hope it is the correct people, because if not the change in media attention is sure to set the sniper(s) into action again.

They seem to be pretty sure that it is the two suspects mentioned in last night's press conference. They were supposedly sleeping in the car at a rest stop up on I-70.

thank god this is over its great news from the world i just hope they get serious justice

From has happened before I dont think the sniper would be caught napping in a "wanted" car on a state highway.

He has got away with this for too long..... I dont see how he could be that stupid.:2 cents:

One hour and ten minutes after the news conference last night, a private citizen spotted the car they were looking for at the rest stop. That's a pretty quick turn around.

We don't know if this guy is the sniper or not...but hopefully it's a positive step towards figuring this situation out. We've had 3 weeks with not much to go on at all, it's good to see progress.

:)

I'd be surprised if it is.

Some of what I've heard was something to do with the 17 year old and a gun training camp in Alabama.. then they found that the boy lived with the older man.

From what I can find in Tacoma records, the older man lived in the area here for many years. He had a restraining order issued against him for domestic violence in 2000.

I find it hard to believe that if all this time Moose has been trying to have a dialogue with the sniper via the news media that he'd announce his name to the world and then turn around in the same press conference and beg the 'sniper' to call them again.

Mr.Fiction 10-24-2002 02:37 AM

Why would both of the guys have been sleeping when they were waiting for Moose to tell them something via the media? Wouldn't one of them stayed awake to listen to the news at all times if they were hoping to get $10,000,000? Why not sleep in shifts?

It all seems very strange.

There are anumber of things that could of happened, not being the snipper.

1) Someone could have ratted on him for "being the snipper". He could own a .223 rifle. Someone that doesn't like him and can provide some details could make this guys live pretty bad. It is possible he had nothing to do with the snipper, but is believed to have illegal firearms.

This would jive with him being asleep at a rest stop. It is possible he was asleep when the alert was issued and woke up to a very nasty suprise.

2) I heard/read the kids fingerprint was found at montgomery alabama in a shooting that involved a .223 round.

http://215stop.com/

It is possible that someone in Alabama knew the round was a 223 and called the police pretending that both are related.

However, none of this seems to fit the MO of the snipper(s). But you never know...

the snipers were given too much credit, once they got the picture and name it was over

funkmaster 10-24-2002 05:53 AM

... looks like itīs over. best news of the day, but still unconfirmed ...

Nydahl 10-24-2002 06:03 AM

I think that this guys couldn't make such a mistake - he is too prof.

Nydahl 10-24-2002 06:12 AM
