How much does 500mbs cost these days?

How much does 500mbs cost these days? Not include servers, just traffic. USA datacenters, average/like BTN quality level.

zagi 07-31-2008 06:23 AM

I have some pretty incredible rates and we also offer fully managed support.

Give me a shout on ICQ: 4930562 and we can work something out

PLATINUMPORN 07-31-2008 06:40 AM

Without any side deals I would say its about $5000 per month.

That is a lot!

:)

HorseShit 07-31-2008 07:09 AM

Definately, $4 per megabit is too much.
I'll colocate you a server for just $1000 / month on a GigE switch...

The GigE switch will be directly connected to my ADSL provider with 128 kbps upload....

60% uptime guaranteed on the DSL or 10% money back guarantee :thumbsup:thumbsup

Why 07-31-2008 10:00 AM

$7,000 seems like a lot for 500mbps. guess it depends on the provider.

$1700 = $3.40 per megabit
That's like cost price cogent

I guess a host could risk you only using 80% or 90% of your 95th percentile and therefore still make a profit.

Bump

Interested to see if hosts can offer anything better

This tread is soooo funny... unless you have a direct fiber connection on a dedicated network with super fast servers you will not come close to what you are asking for... if you have to use your local cable company you will not even come close to what you are looking for because their services share a centralized T(whatever) connection that everyone in their dog uses... perhaps military or educational institutions may have a 500mbs...

wtf are you talking about ?

Iron Fist 08-01-2008 12:20 AM

Sometimes these threads are funny as hell... AS FUCKING IF your actually shopping around for 500mbps... and if on the very small chance you were.. don't you think you'd already have your own people looking into this and that... somewhere OFF a public webmaster board?

I know if I was looking to spend 4+ grand a month on hosting, i'd have reps from dozens of companies calling me every fucking week begging me for my business. Fuck that.. did I say reps? I meant OWNERS....

So to see all the reps in this thread falling over each other saying hit me up, is laughable, but then again, on the one in a million chance the OP is for real, could be the jackpot for some hosting company :)

DOX been around forever, I'm pretty sure if he say he need 500 mbps, then he need 500 mbps :2 cents:
Boards can be a good place to get the last offers before you sign a deal

Ross 08-01-2008 02:47 AM

Alphared can do hosting at $4 per mbit. $2000 per month for 500 mbit. Pretty sure if you asked them nicely they would cut you a slightly better deal for taking so much off their hands.

4/Mbps is cogent cost for several several Gbps worth of commitments, other than that 5/Mbps is the commitment on 2Gbps+ cost.

If someone is below 4/Mbps on cogent they are losing money 100% Bet you on this.

Now if you are in EU and on a peering fabric you can pay 1-2/Mbps for the fabric... but this is mainly in EU only.

some hosts are over commited tho and hope that out of 500mbs you only use 400mbs and they turn a small profit.

You go get that best deal and let us know how it works out after 90 days.

We pay $799 per 100 Mbit server at choopa, so that would be $3995 for 500mbps, but I have seen cheaper options available, like $599. Just not sure about their quality.
