Seems like a numbers bragging game to me... my 22" flat panel cant even display resolution half that high anyways... so i wonder why waste all that bandwidth when no one can actually see the quality...

Pure marketing, I personally hate any resolution higher than my screen resolution. Scrolling pics sucks! And it's not like I'm interested to see if she shaved the same day or one day ago...

Consumers are conditioned to assume more megapixels equals better quality, so this marketing gimmick may just work. :2 cents:

Raw image = 50mgs Tiff image= 117mgs

I just received the H3 D11-50 which uses the new Kodak 50 M-pixel sensor. Total overkill for web images as it produces files in Raw of 65 mgs and Tiff images as large as 150 megs.

I can only imagine how long it would take to download a 50meg file using cheap bandwidth on a 56k modem !!!!! :helpme

I bought a Canon 1DsII in 2005 and thought 16 was good... it's obsolete now...

I love taking a picture of a detailed scene (eg a telephoto shot of a city street from a lookout) and then wandering around the image at 100% zoom, you see stuff you'd never notice otherwise. That would be fun with a 50MP sensor. :pimp
