Returning to the biz - need some help

I use to be actively involved in adult webmastering and started doing it ten years ago, but gradually stops working my sites. I recently sold a bunch of my domains due to financial and health problems which caused me to be hospitalized for two months. Unfortunately, I was between jobs at the time and had no insurance (60k hospital bill).

I am still recovering and am actively looking for employment but have decided to get back into the biz because from my past experience, there is no quicker way to make $$ than doing this, assuming you are willing to put in long hours. Of course, a lot had changed since I was actively doing this. For one thing, it seems like all the TGPs are selling spots. Have they become that profitable. I use to focus on free sites which I used to feed my pay sites. I got rid of all the pay sites and link lists that I had and have decided to concentrate on just building free sites and galleries. Does anyone build free sites anymore?

I am wondering what the current trend is sales-wise in terms of free site/gallery submitting and using sponsors. When I first started, it was easy to get sales and the more work you did, the better your sales were. What kind so ratios are currently the norm? I need to know what to expect. I realize that it is likely much more difficult to make a buck in this biz than it was in 1999, but is it possible to average 2-3 sales per day after a month of building, spending 8+ hours a day? I probably need to be averaging 1,500 to 2,000 per month by early September. I hope that is realistic in todays market.

I am VERY motivated and honest and am willing to work my ass off to get back on my feet again. I would appreciate any information and/or mentoring anyone might be willing to offer. I am also willing to do any paid work for anyone who needs stuff done. I put add for that in here last month but got no bites, despite being bumped by several well-meaning web-masters.

I use to teach English Grammar and writing courses at a local University and can proofread text adds and am willing to do it for a fair price. I am also a songwriter/composer/musician who can produce broadcast quality music tracks and license them for use on your sites for a very reasonable price. I can do most genres of music but my best stuff is rock, hard rock, classical, and country. I can do hip hop beats and lyrics as well but haven't written many of those. I can use a variety of exotic instruments in the arrangements and have some stuff that is really world music oriented. If you are interested in any of these services, or if you just want to help me out with some mentoring and/or information, feel free to contact me. I am not going to ask anyone for handouts. I am too proud to do that.

If you are the owner of a link site or a TGP, please feel free to contact me about submitting. I am honest and will ALWAYS FOLLOW the rules. I have never cheated or replaced links with redirections.

I would prefer to find sites like Freeones, which deliver consistent traffic over a long period of time, over TGPs that send massive amounts of traffic but delete your site as soon as it rotates out. I have always looked at Freeones as a link list for galleries and not really a TGP and have done well there with sales too. Any kinds of similar sites would be great so feel free to recommend them. A consistent traffic flow of 100 hits per day over a year would be far more preferable to me that thousands of hits for three weeks and then nothing. But I will submit to both types of sites.

The biggest problem I had back in the day was that I didn't network or make many connections in the biz. I intend to change that.

This is realistic. Many sponsors are paying $100 PPS, dating are like $100 and $110 .. cams upto $150 PPS.

All you need to send 1 dating sale a day to make $3000 a month, or 2 paysite sales to make ~$2000

If you are good at writing, you can consider blogging. Read this recent most thread on similar topic, some decent info is there.

Thanks for the info, Vicki. I never really promoted dating sites even though they were supposedly hot. I have read a lot of articles about the explosion of these kind of sites, and cam sites too, so it is definitely something I am going to look into. Do any of the big sponsors like ARS do dating sites? Any recommendations on dating/cam site sponsors?

BTW, does anyone still promote viagra and penis enlargement? I use to do well with these until spammers started mail-bombing everyone.

Also, does anyone know of any sponsors who offer direct deposit?

Cool thread. Makes me feel a little less stressed over it all. I don't need 10k a month, at least right off the bat, but it is good to know that it is still possible in this day and age.

My old 'empire' did pretty well even years after i stopped actively working it. I never spent more than 4 hours a day working on stuff and was still able to generate more than enough $$ to support myself in grad school. But I made a lot of mistakes too, like starting out with a pay site. I spent a shit-load of money on content and software and graphics (in the late 90s content was massively expensive). That first paysite was a TOTAL failure, but I was fortunate enough to hook up with a couple of models, who lived out of state, and was able to do quite well with them. If I ever decided to do another pay site, it would be with a local model and I would shoot the content myself.

I also ran link lists and TGPs, which took time away from building and submitting free sites and galleries. I also overpaid on my hosting, running four dedicated servers when I only needed two, stuff like that. I knew how to make money, but I was very lax when it came to reducing expenses, which is foolish. A penny saved IS a penny earned, as they say. Another dumb thing was using a registrar that charged twice what other charged for the same services. I knew about the better deals but chose to stay with my current registrar out of some misguided sense of loyalty. This experience has taught me that you reduce expenses as much as possible.

I have been looking at servers and am blown away by some of the unbelievable prices. Phatservers, for example, sounds almost too good to be true, but they seem to be highly recommended here.

BTW, some questions for gallery submitters - what kind of traffic are you getting and how many galleries do you submit a day, what kind of ratios do you get, what are your best sponsors, and, most importantly, what are your top pics for TGPs?

What is a tube site?

That is tough to do when you still have to drag an oxygen tank around with you everywhere. i have looked into that, but the jobs I am most qualified for don't hire until September and don't start paying until October, and I need rent money now.

Dude most TGPs and other sites want you to have a paid submit account which means you have to pay to submit. That costs money you obviously don't have. Also most sites worth your while aren't even taking new paid accounts anymore anyways.

What is a tube site? Um it's a porn site that's like YouTube. Instead of galley page with 3 or 4 crappy 20 second clips, tube sites show clips anywhere from 2 minutes to whole scenes of 20-30 minutes.

If you are looking for sponsers to promote then you should sign up with True Amateur Cash. Alot of my affiliates are turning over sales very consistently all throughout the day by promoting the free hosted galleries. Not saying that just because this is my affiliate program either. Take a minute to sign up, promote a few of the galleries and you will see what I am talking about.

No quick money, most sponsors put a 30 day hold on payments to catch cheaters. Don't listen to the ones here giving you false hope, they are either trying to sell something or are sig whores, if you need money for living expenses look elsewhere and dont waste your time with dreams of porn riches, it is dangerous.

It's possible to make 1500 plus per month with some hard work. Submit to the right places, a lot of the old places you used to submit are probably still around, just have a look. i do think the blogging idea may be good but if i were you I'd start out at submitting free sites and/or galleries since you already know what you are doing but do a couple of hours a day blogging and submitting to the blog directories and trading hard links.

If you keep to working a schedule of so many hours per day and use that time wisely you can easily make the money you need. As someone said above, you can try to take advantage of some of the higher promotion days can work for you. I hate to spam, but check out industry incentives and it will show you who has increased payouts.

As for freesites, I have noticed a decline in the number of sign-ups you get from submitting to them. Things are not nearly as profitable as they were a few years ago, but I still find it worth the time if you do it every day as over time the number of sites you have on the lists keeps getting bigger and you will get sales from things you submitted months prior sometimes.

I am sure you can also pick up a bit of work doing text or other tasks for webmasters/sponsors if you keep your eyes open on the boards and I believe there are a couple of webmaster job sites out there that you can use to find work.

Sure, there are some shady programs out there but that is not the case with mine. No 30 day payment holds and the free hosted galleries really are converting very well (and on a very steady and consistent basis). Current alexa rank is about 20,000 for the paysite so the traffic is coming in too.
