Google: are your results different in different countries?

I have a site, megayachts.org, which was making me bank before the google nazi's got me for no content, anyways, I still rank in the 11-20 page in the USA but looking at stats I see that I still rank top 1 or 2 in many other localized country google searchs, anyone else have this?

I'm always higher in the Canadian Google than the American.

they vary by more than just countries....they vary by parts of each country (at least in the u.s.)

people on the west coast will see diff results than people on the east coast etc.

Different countries give different results. Different datacenters also give different results. Google is very fluid these days.

I wouldn't say every data center is different, i would say its more regional than anything.

Google Australia tends to show Australian based sites higher in its results for myself. This can be annoying if it's a generic or global term that I've entered, since it's an artificial bias... Google thinks they're helping me by pushing up the AU sites in results. It doesn't always work...

Search on Google Australia for "green", with "the web" selected

1st result wikipedia
next 9 results are *.au addresses

Useless bias...

agreed...i can see how they are trying to help

soon they think we can type in burger king & get the one closest to our house

which is cool & all....but it will definitely fuck up the power users mojo

I love it when out of nowhere I get a top listing on something like google Bulgaria.

Calico Jack 08-06-2008 04:49 AM

Yep, I always find that Google U.S, U.K & Australia are very similar, though not always exact. Google France, Italy, Germany seems to have a mind of their own.

Sarah_Jayne 08-06-2008 04:54 AM

Germany really does feel rather random at times but I have made some good sales off of it too.
