They aren't talking about a visually transparent case. They are talking about one that is transparent to xray machines. They want your laptop to lie flat without all the shit in the rest of your bag obstructing the view of your laptop. |

It's about fucking time, got enough song and dance happening through security... nice lil way to speed the process up a bit.
|
Now what they need is TSA approved shoes that you don't have to take off for the metal detector.
The dumb ritual that people have to go through at security checkpoints do nothing to prevent future terrorist attacks and are nothing more than an experiment to gradually get people used to complete bullshit without putting up much of a fight. Laptops, shoes, liquids, what's next? |
Can't see it making much difference myself. You've still got to unzip and fold it out.
Over here, I think it was the British Airports Authority did a survey and it wasn't the fact that laptops had to be taken out of bags it was the fact that people still weren't prepared for it when they came to the x-ray. |
Yeah I dont see how an xray machine can't see through "non-TSA Approved" bags. Screw TSA and their approved bags. That's fucking ridiculous. I feel sorry for anyone that buys into this BS. Pretty soon everyone will be traveling with everything only "TSA Approved" - including your socks.
"Oh John, aren't you wearing your TSA approved shoes, socks, and underwear?" |

BTW the article says "TSA said it reached out to bag manufacturers this year to design laptop cases..."
Should say: "Bag manufacturers reached out to TSA this year with cash in hand..." Wake up people. |
And where is an affiliate link to sell the bags? I know I will probably end up with one.

I'm thinking the "shoe bomber" and the "transatlantic aircraft plot" had something to do with it. |
better than them looking through it
|
Now all we need is competent tsa screeners.

TSA should have reached out to these manufacturers about 5 years ago.

I've travelled with a laptop, two kids with one in a stroller, and a cat......
You actually have to roll the stroller through the metal detector, AFTER you have taken off your toddler's shoes.....If you have an animal, you must take the animal out of it's container, run the container through the x-ray, and then hand the animal over to a TSA agent, so that they can then walk the animal through the metal detector...... Imagine having to do all of that in addition to carrying two laptops.....I was sweating like a pig in a slaughterhouse.... |

Gimme a break man. TSA is being payed off heavy by these product manufacturers. Wake up. WE DONT NEED THIS SHIT. |
It also helps to have a TSA approved lock on your bag or else it will get broken off as your bag gets searched....
|
Fucking priceless thread. self pwnd.
|
fuck them
|
Want to make some money?? Start a computer/ipod/iphone/digital storage rental shop near the exit of a major airport. Place flyers in the international arrivals area that they can rent what was taken by DHS

I don't see anywhere where it says we'd be forced to buy them.
So: we now have the option to buy a bag that we just flop open, or we don't buy the newfangled bag and we continue to take our laptop out of our bag, just like we've done for the last several years. What's all the fuss about? Provided they're not forcing us to buy the bag to bring laptops aboard, this represents greater freedom - not less. :2 cents: |
to me its just some gimmick by a bag company talking to tsa to get people to buy more bags. i got no issues taking my .03 secs to slide my LT out and put it in the bin for its 4 foot ride thru the machine.
marketing is all this is folks. sellings more idiots more idiot bags. nothing more. |

fucking idiot btw, they are testing machines to xray shoes so you don't have to take them off if you have nothing to hide, why are you so worried about going through a security checkpoint. conspiracy theory people are funny |

But TSA approved shit is still a big scam |
scam? please.
i remember when a backpack was a afucking backpack- then they came out with laptop backpacks with padding everywhere and 18 pockets for ipods, mp3 players and CDs i didn't see anyone calling that a scam. paranoia is a bad thing |

buying what scam?
it's a feature of a suitcase, just like wheels and an extendable handle. products evolve. seatbelts, airbags, whatever. it's good to question things but it's clear you misread the article and are backtracking |

All this "TSA Approved" BS |
"Government-approved bags" = KGB, USSR.

Tell me, do you consider microwave ovens to be a conspiracy? |

Just because you're paraniod, doesn't mean they are not out to get you. >;-)) |
wait til people find out that those bags have tracking devices in them...

That's it I guess I won't be able to travel with my M2010 anymore. I will have to get a laptop I can put in one of those bags. I HATE all the bs travelling with my laptop. :(
|
Hardly worth all the bitching. If buying a certain bag would get me through faster, I'm all for it.
|
I don't see what's the big deal ???
