Retrieving ICQ contacts and history

Ever since being forced to install the latest version of ICQ, I've had nothing but problems with it. But my biggest beef is that every time I try to move a contact to my affiliate group, the contact just disappears... never to be seen again.

I know I can just re-add these contacts, but when they disappear, so does all of their history, which as you probably know, can be very useful and sometimes necessary information.

Does anybody know how to retrieve the history when the contact is re-added? Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

The contact list should be stored on their servers as I recall. I know when I was forced to upgrade, and they when I downgraded, the contact list always appeared.

History is a little more difficult, but first things first.

Have you ever tried Trillian, Missy?

Yeah for the most part it is. For instance, if I install and load my account on a new computer, my contact list will show up. The problem is that contacts from my list disappear at random and I can't figure out how to get them back without readding them.

For example, when I add somebody who is an affiliate of mine, I always try to put their account username in the comments field so that I don't have to ask for it every time I talk to them. Sometimes it works; other times, as soon as I save and close, the contact just disappears entirely. The same thing happens when I try to move a contact from the general group to the affliate group. Just gone.

Actually Ramos hit me up a bit ago and suggested that, so I'm trying it out now for the first time. It won't resolve the issue of missing contacts and history, but hopefully it will save me from any such problems like this in the future.
