Why is it OK for the USA to attack Iraq, but not Russia attacking Georgia?
 

seems kind of hypocritical, doesn't it? at least Russia can say that GE attacked them so they had to retaliate, what did Iraq do to us? Iran has done more to us than Iraq, but they're more of a formidable opponent I guess.

You'll find very few Americans who will say today that it was ok for the US to attack Iraq.....so trying to use that as justification for what Russia is doing is just ridiculous.

Either Russia has a very good reason or it doesn't....nothing that anyone else is doing or has done in the world is relevant.

To make things simplier:
Imagine Cuba would say that Hawai belongs to it, though Hawai had a different idea about that. Then Cuba attacs Hawai and US sends troops to Hawai to drive cuban troops out.

Exactly the same situation is in the Conflict between Russia and Georgia.
Georgia attacked Osetia whose population wants to be an independent country or a part of Russia and not Georgia. After the attack the government and population of Osetia asked the Russians to drive Georgian troops out. So actually russia is not attacking Georgia it is helping Osetia to drive georgian troops away.

Iran is the real concern at the moment.

With around 10 US war ships moving into the gulf for a naval blockade to prevent the shipment of benzene. This would cripple the Iranian economy and stop them from exporting fuel products to China and Russia.

This is a game that could get out of hand fast if we see China and Russia send ships to escort the benzene into Iran.

The war in Georgia is no different than what went on between Mexico, Texas and the US. Same exact thing. EXACT.

Texas and Ossetia declare independence.

Mexico and Georgia try to get that part of their country back under control by going in.

Mexico and Georgia attack the neighboring country's military aiding the revolution.

Sure Cuba has problems, that was not what I meant. I was referring to global problems or issues that involve other countries. However, Cuba is dirty poor and struggling because of the USA. That is a fact. We have them in a headlock and have been chocking them out for years.

SOME Cubans are happy to leave Cuba. The only Cubans I've met IN Cuba who still want to leave, are younger Cubans who are more into getting their hands on the latest fashion brands and making money. Lift the trade embargo and let money start to pour into that country and opportunity and see who still wants to leave.

And yea, you have people who speak out against Castro jailed. So what? They know it's not allowed, and they do it anyway. Pretty fucking stupid if you ask me. Is it a human rights violation? Maybe. The US has done worse over less. No country is perfect. But they people know the rules and choose to break them. The people in Cuba have other small freedoms that Americans don't have, but on the flip side, they don't have the freedom to criticize their government. Break the rules, pay the price.

I know Cuba is not perfect, but it is special. When Fidel and Raul are gone and if the next leader is able to mend the relationship with the USA, "Cuba" is over. The Cubas have no idea how easy they have it right now. Free health care, one of the highest literacy rates in the word, it's safe and it is cut off from the outside world that is just DYING to race in to destroy the charm that is Cuba. Startbucks and McDondalds have already secured private deals for locations along the Malecon in Havana. Think about that. How sad.

What is going to happen is this. American investors (and American Cubans) are going to run in there and take everything. The old cars, the antique furniture, old musical instruments, old bikes, old radios... you name it. The Cubans are going to sell it all to them (or get fucked out of it) and be left holding that glorious green wad of cash and will have lost everything that makes that island so unique. That will be sad. T

hen what you will have is Havana revived and the new tourist spot for Americans, but the Cuban people and smaller cities are going to suffer more than before. No more free health care and now they get a shitty education system. Free food or rations, nope. Because they won't be able to have it with the new way of doing things. Most of Cuba will then turn into another Dominican Republic, otherwise a poverty filled shit hole, that was better off before. It's going to be very sad. Mark my words, this will happen.

The only saving grace to this story is if the USA somehow makes Cuba a state somewhere down the road. That would pull them out of the slump and turn them into another Puerto Rico, and the military will continue to keep the base there, unrestricted, meaning that GIs would pretty much take over the southern part of the island and Santiago De Cuba. This would be about the only option that would save Cuba from totally falling into more despair. :2 cents:

When George W went against the UN and invaded Iraq, he set the stage for these kinds of things.

Now the UN is speaking to Russia, and guess what, they don't have to listen because the US did the same exact thing when it came to Iraq. Its absolutely hypocritical thinking that Russia should comply when the US snubbed the UN over Iraq. It's no different. We told the world to fuck off when it came to Iraq, and guess what, now Russia is telling the world to fuck off when it comes to Georgia.

As an American, that's the first thing that came to my mind. Don't be surprised if you see the same thing from other countries. When a permanent member ignores the UN, it takes a lot of credibility away. One of the many terrible things George W can put under his accomplishments.

i got a sad bit of news for you comrade, russian soldiers are very poorly trained, have horrible equipment and are very poorly taken care of.

it took two wars for Russia to subdue Chechnya... the first war they have to give up completely and granted Chechnya their independence... the second time around it took 100K plus soldiers, tanks, planes, helicopters etc and 4-5 years to marginally suppress less than 10k, poorly trained bandits and mercenaries who had nothing but Ak-47s, RPG's and sniper rifles... even then, they had to do it by totally just razing entire cities to the ground from a distance.
