I am about to buy a new computer. Where do you suggest I get it from?

I have a Frankenstein system right now. I had it built by a buddy a couple years ago. I've made some minor upgrades since I got it, but now I figured it's time to get a whole new system.

I wanted to get some suggestions from the peanut gallery as to which system I should get and perhaps where I can get it from.

From looking around on the websites of the major chains, such as Circuit City and BestBuy, there seems to be all kinds of deals out there. I was just going to go to one of those places. There are also those online options as well, such as BuyComp.com and TigerDirect.com.

Any good advice would be appreciated.

:thumbsup

I've shopped around and usually you can't go too wrong at Bestbuy or Futureshop, prices are cheap and the return policy is perfect. :2 cents:

Most places are damn competitive nowadays. I know my next computer will just come from best buy. Partially because of their price match, partially cause of their points, partially for their extra points for using their card, partially for that its easy to get 6 months interest free, and partially for their return policy.

While looking around online I ran into a great deal on this Dell 24" LCD widescreen monitor that was on sale for $289 ($160 discount). The sale just ended and now it's back up to $449. I should have grabbed that when I first saw it.

I have to buy my first desktop in years. I'm headed to the local computer shop. I tried to buy a bottom of the line Dell and ended up at $600. Surely the local dude can do better than that.......

A lot of Mac users here. I always thought most all of us used PCs.

the Mac people just tend to be noisier about it

I used to use Mac exclusively for all my graphics and photo work back in the 90's but switched to PC and happy with PC now
