I've never really compared through the years.. I have a few things here and there.. but the stocks are all with Morgan Stanley originally wasDean Witter before a merge.

Looking at my last few purchases..... a $5K purchase was $112, a $10K purchase was $150, $15K was $220.

Thanks PK, I'll do a search for them.

Merrill Lynch. I have everything consolidated there, personal and business. They have great integration with Paychex for payroll and their reporting is top notch. For the conveniences they offer, I spend somewhere around $1500-$1800/yr. for unlimited portfolio managmenet. I'm sure it isn't completely unlimited from a trading aspect, but I really haven't read the fine print.

It's actually Ameritrade, they merged with Datek not too long ago. Still a way to go if you are looking for cheap way to trade securities.

If you're just messing around, do not have a lot of money to open with or plan on doing frequent trading instead of buy and hold, go with Etrade, Datek or similar. Even if you use a full service broker, it is often handy to have an account with one of these guys just for putzing around because the transaction fees are cheap.

For full service, I like Schwab. They're on the cheaper side of the full service brokers and their online services are excellent. If you have at least $10K to open, there's no maintenance fees. If you have at least $100K, you qualify for their "Signature" service and you get all of their perks for free.

I just say 'No'...

Scootermuze 10-27-2002 08:51 AM

MyTrack is good.. They don't fuck ya with the $.01/share over so many shares bought/sold... $12.95 per trade with market and otc.. 50k max with online trades.. lots of other services as well..
and the trades are fast...

$500 to open acct.
