I have to agree that Linux beats Windows when it comes to Servers but as a desktop for sure no.. I've tried OSX a few times but not enough to say if its worse or better.. |
I've been using it for about a year and have had no problems at all.seems to be stable for me
|
Microsoft has found its way to GFY.

Oh and I design my sites with windows paint..

I've got vista on my laptop and it's great. Never had a problem with it. I've still got XP on my desktop but it seems so slow and takes forever to start compared to vista :)
|
I don't understand people who get impressed by glossy Vista (Aero look). It's the first thing to turn off when tuning Vista OS. Then remove Indexing service, right toolbar, visual effects, etc...
Anyone who says Vista is faster than XP .... total NONSENSE. Of course if you installed your XP 2 years ago it's slow. It's the way it goes with any Windows OS. But do a fresh install and tune up Vista and XP on the same type of computer and I can grant you XP will be 20-40% faster. The only real advantage of Vista in my opinion is better support for devices new drivers, hypermemory, and .... that's it :D Not speaking of User Access Control and Windows defender which doesn't protect much anyway and both are just pain the .... Just my point of view |
Vista is pretty stable. The problem is that it's the biggest resource hog OS on the market. I had it installed on a $3k laptop, and it ate over 1GB of RAM, and %10 cpu, AT IDLE.
Vista woos people with it's aesthetic, when in reality, that very same attractiveness is its downfall. If you want to make the most out of Vista, remove the fluff, and make it look and run like XP, and you'll find yourself computing MUCH more efficiently. :2 cents::2 cents: |
IE Crashes a lot for me and I can't get streaming video to play.

As for the Aesthetic stuff, well, I love that. My side bar has a clock, calender, two note pads, the weather, a caculator, and a CPU monitor. I'd be hard press to live without these. |
Vista is sucks :)
XP - Nice :) |
You know I reckon a lot of the people complaining about vista will be complaining about whatever replaces it in a couple of years and wanting to keep vista. I remember people b*tching like mad at XP when it came out but now people can't seem to live without it :1orglaugh

Vista sucks, it asks lots of resources, memory, etc. WTF

I have XP and Vista on different machines and prefer XP
Microsoft should have stuck with XP :2 cents: |
I still use Win2K and Win XP. I have no plans on changing that.
|
XP never crashed on me, WIN 2000 never crashed on me, too...
