Affliates: CCbill one time transactions??

Hi, If a site doesn't have recurring billing, does an affiliate get accredited if a member joins again in 5 months time??

CheeseFrog 08-21-2008 01:11 AM

By default, no. CCBill cookie only lasts 3-days out of the box. I set ours to 6 months. So a non-recurring sale would still get credited if the guy signed up 5 months later. I'm probably just gonna change it again to 365 days, just to be sure.

That's assuming he has miraculously avoided hitting another affiliate link in the 5 month period and having the original cookie over-written :)

Thanks guys, I suppose a site that has affiliates shouldn't really have non recurring memberships.

Well, most of the programs using advanced affiliate software already offer to affiliates what payment options to promote.

If you are going for revshare the question is $$ / signup in average.

So if there is for example a non recurring 3 months membership option that grants a one time cut of a bigger pie and that is purchased by say 10 pct. of sign ups and doesn't lower the average $$ I don't see an issue with that.

Not to mention if we would be speaking about one time discounted 6 / 12 months memberships those are almost granted to make more than what an average user spends (depending also on the site of course).

CheeseFrog rocks with 180 day cookies... :) Cheers!

Well, i contacted the site owner that I was promoting to ask if he could possibly change his default setting from 3 days to the 365 days, and he said he wouldn't...:( He says he doesn't want half the surfers in the world running around with my cookies making sales...:Oh crap

Am I losing it or is this program owner a little unreasonable?? I send him traffic and sales and I get nothing if the surfer decides to rejoin...:error

Normal? If you don't like it then just send somewhere else. Whether that makes you more money in the long run only you'll know for sure.

He has a great site that I know I would do really well with, but having non recurring billing with no ability for the affiliate to get the future signups just doesnt seem fair to me...:upsidedow

If he doesn't join within 3 days it's not very likely that you were the cause of him joining. It could be argued it's one of those things like advertising though that he if he sees it enough he will eventually buy though. But ultimately only 1 affiliate gets the credit.

I am talking about a member that joins, then once his month is up decides to rejoin, I think it's fair for the affilate to still get the credit for the extra months. It's like having recurring billing and the affiliate not getting commission for anything past the initial join...

Bump... I say it depends on cookies, and other things.

bbm 08-23-2008 05:40 PM
