As if Costa Rican banks couldn't get any more retarded...
I just got a phone call from my bank saying they have to cancel my debit card for extra security. I ask them why and their reply is "well sir, I don't know exactly but it must be mastercard".
I figure maybe they mean my international card because I've been using it in different places lately (FL, MD, NJ, PA, etc...) but he says no, he will cancel both cards (domestic and international) and he can't do anything about it or let me talk to anyone else. He said my new cards will be available at my bank free of charge on Monday (so in Tico time, that prob means Wednesday/Thursday). Costa Ricans, never ceasing to amaze me with their stupid shit. |
You might have had someone trying to rip you off and they are doing it for security.
My accounts are always "warm" apparently to my bank.. The littlest attempt to rip me off and everything shuts down. I don't even get a call or a warning and they say it's for security also.. |
If I purchase a membership to anything on epoch/ccbill or netbilling, BoA 100% of the time locks my "business" cards until they call to make sure it's not fraud. If they can't get a hold of me they auto cancel my cards, even though I have told them like 1000 times to stop doing this.
I can buy from amazon, pc club, ect all day - and never get a phone call. One purchase on any adult processor and my cards get locked 100% of the time. |
banks are retarded everywhere ... not just in Costa Rica ...
retarded and greedy ..... :mad::mad: |
I have 10.000 euro ($15k) daily limit on two of my cards.
Fortunately my bank sends me an sms and a mail every time one of these cards is billed, so even a single cent billed I get an instant notification on my cell phone and on my blackberry. If they are willing to change your cards, then there must be some reason for that. |

This is the same bank that earlier this year, because they couldn't find a decent way of protecting their site from hackers their said, wanted to eliminate the ability to transfer money to another person online. When the going gets tough, CR just rolls back ten years. |
Tico time...lol Yea... That usually takes a while.
|
At least they provided you a mastercard after 10 YEARS LOL!!!
Im still waiting to open a account for 6 months. Thats how slow they are. Quote:

Banco Nacional just sucks imho. I have had better luck with BCR, but I guess it was just with the people I've delt with. They are both government run, right? :/

Such a thing could outlaw fraude for 98%, do they even realize that ? Your bank is sitting on a mountain of gold, idea wise. |
money laundering?

Mas cerca de usted! lol

The fact is that ever since identity theft and terrorism (post 9/11) became major issues..... most western banks have instituted some seriously rigorous procedures. Many European banks have been pushed into this by the USA/EU.
Banks which dont fit into the asian side, american side or european side but some other place (like maybe islands and tax havens) just dont know what theyre doing anymore...... Its like if you see a line of 20 ants following each other and you remove 5, the others dont know who theyre supposed to be following so theyre all over the fucking place. |
