You are forgetting that McCain is old, and its very possible the VP will be the Pres before 4 years is up. I think Thompson gave up way too early. I mean look who would up the candidate. I would of never have guessed McCain would get it.

Im hoping to make 76. The army shot me up with some nasty shit during my two go arounds. But Mccain lets everyone know about his abuses as a war prisoner and guess how many years that rubs off your life.

I look at 76 as 3/4's point.
