Is it possible to cname our sponsors

Hey guys I wanted to know if it's possible to cname our sponsors. I learned about cname last year but still not sure if it possible to cname anything I want.

It may, or may not work. Most have default values which won't have your code set.

So, if you want to waste a domain, sure, go for it - but you may piss them off and get banned.

After reading what you said I am assuming its not a domain default to cname any website I want.

Nope.

As GS said, it just doesn't work that way, little buddy.

Most sites have their cookies hardcoded to their domain name; they have to. NATS sponsors have a default link code that is used if a NATS code is not specified. If you 'hotlink' a cname to NATS, you're gonna get no sales from it.

Worst case, as mentioned, you annoy the sponsor when they see it and they ban you because you didn't get permission (they'd tell you that you'd be wasting your money on the domain by doing this). By allowing you to do so may be a security risk.

Yep. It won't do you much good. If you don't want to do any work, you should at least make a TGP, or a blog that just blind-links to FHGs or FHMs.

If you want to actually make money at it, you'll put some more work into it than that.

I did some work on some site but scrapped it. I did contact with my sponsor about this issue before and their hosting company said they cant pull this off. Anyway thanks for the reply. I didn't know I can get any sales also if it was done because you said "If you 'hotlink' a cname to NATS, you're gonna get no sales from it.".

Thanks for the heads up guys on this issue.

Why not just do a super short redirect? I do this to filter and track a lot of my traffic.
