My dog got sprayed by a skunk on her face tonight :\
holy fucking shit
i let her outside, she went around the pool, made some funny noises, i went to see and shes face to face with a skunk. told her to come see me, she was foaming from the mouth and i wasn't sure if she could breathe so i went inside to google it and find out what to do in this kind of situation. but then it hit me, the smell, it was ALL OVER the fucking house. by then she stopped foaming and was just rubbing her face in everything. so now it smells like shit everywhere in the house. fuck sakes :disgust |
Hate to break this to you man. You need some skunk soap ASAP for you dog which should have his or her ass outside for the rest of the night. You also are going to smell like skunk yourself and just about everything around you for a week or so if the dog shared much. Everything will need to be cleaned.
I am so sorry for you, it is really going to suck. Also bad that you have a skunk nearby, odds are it lives right near you. |
Oh man, that's horrible. I'm sorry.

Likely payback for running those warez sites. You get to feel natures wrath of the almighty skunk. :1orglaugh

Tomato juice can help get rid of the smell of skunk spray. Bathe your pooch in some and it will help, probably need to do it a few times.

sorry man i know its not funny... but eh... thats fuckin funny |
Had the same thing happen to me years ago. Real important that you get all the skunk oil off him. If the oil sticks, it can last for years on him (seriously!). If he got it in the face, he may not see well either as it can blind the dog temporarily. Just make sure you really get the affected area clean to avoid having a dog that smells like skunk for the next few months.
Oh, and that smell will haunt you in your dreams for awhile. It took me a week before I got that taste out of my mouth. |
Oh yeah, the all-natural skunk odor remover works real well without fucking up the dog's fur too much. You can pick it up at any pet store tomorrow. Probably best to give him a bath tomorrow too.

Ok,
From my vet: tomato juice is a grandma's tale ( no offence lady Mischief!!). Go with vanilla and baking soda mixed in warm water and skunk shampoo ( should be named anti-skunk shampoo) and expect your house and yourself to smell for about a week... and expect your dog to smell for at least a month and when the dog is wet, ithe smell will come back for the next 4 months. It happened to me last summer. Hell my friend! |

I will have to keep your remedy on file too :thumbsup |

One after noon we watched our horses moving along the back fences. from time to time they would then stop for a while and then start to move. Did not think much about it.
the next am, we went to give them some grain. HOLY FUCK!!! Both of them had been sprayed by a skunk right in the face. Believe it or not, SAND will rub a good portion of it off. But be careful not to get it in his eyes or rub to hard. Might try tomato juice, i have heard that works, but never tired it. |

That really sucks, man. Hope everything goes well for you and your dog. I bet it stinks so bad.

It happened to my german sherperd up in Northern Arizona.
We had fortunately just watched a show of "Myth Busters" and the solution was outstanding. They compared tomato juice to the skunk products and then to a doctors recommendation and found the best solution is the following: Gallon of Hydrogen peroxide mixed with as much baking soda as you get from a store. It will lift the oils out of the skin. Get rid of the collar immediately as there is no way to get it out, and put your dog in the garage, as ours was very sick for 24 hours. Best of luck. It was a long night for us, but it does go away. |
