There are a couple Masons in the biz, but they don't go announcing it on message boards.

Enemator 08-27-2008 05:43 AM

I am NOT a member.

Being a mason isn't a secret thing. You realize they sometimes even publish their membership rosters right? This was a spoof thread, after the a few others like the ones below were created.

Who are GFY's other MILLIONAIRS besides me -- mrfrisky

I have several in my family too, but you have to profess belief in a God and I'm still not sure that I do. It's an important part.

I'll never understand why people want to turn over their destiny to some "god" they serve.

Mankind has done some amazing things in history, but they always want to credit something or someone that hasn't even been proven to exist.

What about Mankind? Its like, can't we take credit for anything ourselves?

Religion is just too good of a tool to control people, that is what it is. Its like you have to lie to people to get their attention.

Marcus Aurelius 08-27-2008 07:54 AM

You have voided your membership to the illuminati by making yourself known to the public in such a way. Please turn in your card, clean out your locker, and kindly remove yourself from our presence. Thank you that is all.

Sincerely,
Illuminati Underling #1

JesseD 08-27-2008 07:57 AM

IF you can suck yourself off 3 times in 10 minutes then you can become an Illuminati - that is what I'm told anyways. Post pics please so we have proof!

The question is ambiguous and is designed to be left open to each individuals personal interpretation :2 cents:

You have to believe in God, a higher power, a supreme deity, a grand architect, whatever you want to call it. The ambiguity is lost if you're of an atheist belief. It's for believers. I'm sure some atheists choose to get around it deceptively, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

I guess it works for some people, and maybe they need it for comfort. I'm just not sure what I can believe yet myself. I used to go to church. I often wondered if many others were there searching and faking it and why was it so hard for me to just believe it. I may be on a spiritual journey for the rest of my life, never reaching a destination or discovering truth.. or maybe then it was there all along.

I just wanted to clarify that there is no allegiance to any particular god specific to masonry nor is their conflict with anyone's belief system / religion. Obviously if an individual believes in nothing at all, then it's a moot point. Although, it's hard to believe in nothing, it's a bit paradoxical.. but that's a philosophical debate :P

It's not so much about believing in "God", rather, believing in a "Higher Power". This could be anything. Just believing in something larger than yourself. I can see how this is an important attribute when forming a "Brotherhood". If each brother thought they were the center of the universe... I think they'd have a difficult time keeping order.

There are quite a lot of skeptics and atheists in the world.

LOL@U - ""real"" (in your mind) or not, why anybody would admit they belong to the same group of bois that allowed G/Bush Jr. to join is obvious worth less than spit!

So long as it gives you the sense of belonging, I suppose.

Let me guess: they accepted only after they noticed you are cable of flicking the light switch.
